Limbaugh has quit ESPN
I just heard this on the radio. At the same time they said he was being investigated for buying illegal drugs. What a day to wake up to. I feel great.

2. Distraction alert!
The coincidence here is just too...coincidental. Great news yes, but what will the media not be reporting because of it?

10. Yeah, maybe, but...
...Rush has made it as far as he has be acting 100% in his own self-interest. It just doesn't seem at all like him to throw himself on a grenade to save Chimpy's administration from Traitorgate.

3. I'll say...I woke up to a phone call from Germany.
Spouse is there on business...and he told me about the Rush story!!! I literally woke up to the news! HAhahah! And I was so pissed when I heard Aaron Brown say "it's only an opinion people" about Rush before I went to bed..

6. Sounds like sour grapes and no I saw several about his drugs but none
about him quiting ESPN. Maybe I should have looked deeper but on the first page I saw nothing.

5. I think we should lay off the drug story.
I doubt anything will ever come of this and we will look like fools for making a big deal of it.

8. this has been independently confirmed
and is being investigated by the palm beach county fl police. Vicodin and oxycontin are the two most quoted in news sources.

12. Oxycontin.
Isn't that extremely addictive and considered the scourge of rural areas...in fact I've heard it called rural crack.

In LBN there are posts about his housekeeper (supplier) who said he took enough to kill an elephant. And yes, that is exactly how he lost weight.

13. I know what Oxycontin is
Around here 1 pill costs $75-$100. My friend's dad who broke his vertabrae takes Oxycontin as a prescribtion and it helps him with his pain.

16. Not sure why they call it that...rural crack...
we have NO shortage of Crackheads in rural america...Not going out on a limb to say crack is way easier to find...and Crack is speed...Oxycotin is a pain killing narcotic...a downer...so...poor analogy!!!

18. Sorry....I meant CRYSTAL METH is the rural crack...
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 09:40 AM by Ripley
Not oxycotin...Got my drugs mixed up!! :smoke:

People cook up this crap in their mobile homes (really smells) in the sticks so they are less likely to be detected. They often burn the place down.

14. And fair's fair, everyone; email ESPN and congratulate them
I mean, it's not often that the right thing happens, and a lot of folks wrote ESPN both before Rush ever slimed his way on the air there and subsequently. ESPN didn't show a great deal of regard for a large segment of its viewers (i.e., those with a functioning brain), but mention that you will now resume watching their programs, and that you hope that in the future, they will be more responsive to viewer concerns, instead of tossing off some canned bogus excuse.

Now, can ESPN do something about Stuart Scott? Or is that just a personal distaste sort of thing?

15. Thank ESPN for what?
Rush resigned, but I personally think ESPN asked Rush to resign or they were going to fire him, but I have no evidence of that.

20. NFL pressured ESPN
ESPN never intended to let Limbaugh go over this (they were more interested in ratings) but the NFL put the pressure on them.

NEW YORK, Oct. 2 — Without backing down from his comments about a black football player, conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh resigned from his TV sports job, saying he regretted having caused “discomfort” to his colleagues at ESPN.

19. He didn't quit. He was fired.
FOX showed a clip of Limbaugh giving a speech today where he said "ESPN didn't want to deal with it, so I gave them my resignation." Which is sort of like giving someone a bottle of borbon and a revolver and calling it suicide.
