As I'm not actually American, and they're less likely to be living next door to me, I feel capable of (if decidely scummy about) occasionally looking at Freakshow Republic, that nest of submoronic lickspittles. It alternately amuses and disgusts me. Well, it always disgusts me, but I do it anyway.
In any case, I happened to do so during the millisecond they had a thread about that Sidney Blumenthal editorial on Salon (
http://www.salon.com/opinion/blumenthal/2005/08/31/disaster_preparation/index.html) concerning the pathetic bush administration record leading up to the disaster in New Orleans. It was only up for a scant few seconds, with time for a couple of "Well, I never!" kind of non-responses from shocked freepers, before it disappeared.
While it seems obvious that anything from Sidney Blumenthal, and almost anything from Salon, would have a short life at FR, I take the particular light-speed with which this one atomized to be a definite sign that the political reality of what bush has helped wreak on the Gulf is pushing through their jellylike forebrains. And this, if nothing else about the whole tragic thing, makes me feel a little bit better.
