NYT op-ed trounces Bush's belated response to the hurricane
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/01/opinion/01thu1.html

The op-ed is entitled "Waiting for a Leader". Snap!

"George W. Bush gave one of the worst speeches of his life yesterday, especially given the level of national distress and the need for words of consolation and wisdom. In what seems to be a ritual in this administration, the president appeared a day later than he was needed. He then read an address of a quality more appropriate for an Arbor Day celebration: a long laundry list of pounds of ice, generators and blankets delivered to the stricken Gulf Coast. He advised the public that anybody who wanted to help should send cash, grinned, and promised that everything would work out in the end."

The tide is turning faster, folks.

3. The old gray whore can still turn a trick every now and then
When the Manchester Union-Leader lays into Bush, why should any other paper be shy?

4. we need a leader ... after hearing his speech it is clear it isn't him
my husband hadn't heard the speech and i said "man did he screw up - it was a laundry list of what they are going to bring, nothing inspiring" glad to see the NYT is writing about this lack of leadership.

6. It was as feeble a speech as his comments about Peter Jennings.
All he did was describe stuff without using any compound sentences.

Really terrible.

9. Compound sentences?
George hasn't mastered verb-subject agreement yet.

7. CNN and NBC have been mentioning Bush's delayed response.
There are more important things to deal with right now. I just hope this doesn't go the same way as the Senators that swore that Bush would be held accountable if no WMD's were found in Iraq. Much like the people in NO. We're still waiting.
