1. They confirmed the Daily News/National Enquirer piece
The can confirm there a painkiller investigation going on and Rush is involved.

4. Didn't Rush go deaf recently
And isn't sudden deafness a side result of heavy opiate use (such as Oxycontin)?

11. Vicodin, Percocet and similar drugs contain acetaminophen.
Too much acetaminophen can cause serious liver damage.

2. When I saw what he looked like this weekend on tv
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 09:34 AM by khephra
I couldn't believe it was the same man. It's not that he's lost weight...there was something sickly looking about his skin.

3. Now here is the rub. . .
They are going after the pharmacist and the suppliers not the users. But nonetheless, Rush has some explaining to do.

6. If anyone here knows any cops in that country
remind them that procuring pills in the amounts described is an automatic distribution charge. It's time that these assholes who pushed through draconian laws feel the consequences of their own actions.

5. Not that I feel sorry for him, but...
Isn't this kind of obvious that on the same week he makes a fool out of himself on a football show, he also gets nailed on dru accusations. Just goes to show there are always plenty of people waiting around to kick you when your down. I am sure htis will only reinforce his hatred of the media.

10. on the issue of timing
clearly this story has been in the works for a while now, I'm sure the enquirer just bumped it up in light of the ESPN thing. This is much less a matter of conspiracy and more of a matter of rush making a fool of himself and a media outlet seeing a perfect opportunity to push a story that was going to break anyways.

13. News Flash:
In many real and substantive ways, Pigboy IS the media. He is more responsible for creating societal memes in the US, in politics and social welfare areas, than all the reporters in the US.

Having said that, there is NOTHING the should preclude him from being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, in a manner that is no different from anyone else who has faced the same charges, especially in first offense circumstances.

Except one: It is Florida we are talking about. Florida. Jeb has that state by the short and curlies. I am sure that great pressure will be brought upon the prosecutor or DA, to "get creative". The BFEE takes care of its own.

Just ask Nicole.

This is ALMOST as satisfying as when we get that idiot out of the White House!

Family Values my ass. Speaking of ass, Rush will blame it on the horrible pain he has from his own pain in the ass - that anal cyst!

24. Even if he survives this, it does one thing
This will take him out of being a "mover and shaker" in the 2004 election. He'll have to first go into a very public rehab and then come out on the talk show circuit (probably Oprah) as a changed man. He'll get back on the air and then he'll start crawling back up again, just like he did after the massive failure of his tv show.

That's how the script is supposed to play out, you know?

But he's out of the game for the next election. That's for sure.

This may have cost the election for the RW right here and now. Rush IS the RW when it comes to the media. Yeah, there's Hannity and O'Retched, but Rush is the superstar of the field.

30. He will lose some of his support. Serious RW Moralists...who are against
anyone using Drugs for whatever reason......will not support him. It will cause some of his supporters to have an internal conflict......Some.......not many......but some. And, his "mystique" as a moralizer will be gone forever.

This is what was needed........the hypocracy factor to come back into discussion in America.......

That's my hope......that goodness.....in the end prevails against the force of darkness.......

33. Exactly,
Rush is a raving hypocrit. Unless he gets locked up, this will not stop him. He will go on spouting his venom as if none of this ever happened.

Most of his listeners will not abandon him. It will, however, increase the cognative dissonance among them, but instead of resolving the dissonance, they will just become angrier and angrier until something snaps.

34. Like when Buddy Holly died
Like when Buddy Holly died, and rock-n-roll came to an end.

Or when Lenin died and communism ended.

Or when Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker fell from grace and fundamentalist TV shows all went off the air.

Or when Martha Stewart went to jail and home cooked meals went out of style at long last.

Sorry, there's plenty more hate in the world and plenty more haters willing to fill Rush's void. The witch is dead. Long live the witch.

36. The deaths of Buddy Hlly and Lenin did nothing to
discredit Rock and Roll and communism. Martha Stewart has yet to go to jail and even if she does it will not be no reflection on home cooked meals.

Jim and Tammy Faye's fall had a very diliterious effect on televangalism.

Rush will have a similar effect on right wing moralists. Whenever O'Reilly, Hannity or any other right wing moralist starts denouncing people for drug use, Rush will creep into the minds of their listeners.

is that this part of the Rush debacle will focus media attention on Jebbo's banana republic...and any "kid gloves" treatment they give the flabby coward will remind everyone of the country of "Just Say" Noelle Bush and her fake prescriptions...

16. BWAHAHAHA! HipHip! WooooHOOOO & ALL Joyous Sounds
First heard it on Don ANUS. Delayed opening up DU to prolong what I thought would be WILD CELEBRATING. Was surprised to find a lot of skeptical posts about this supposedly being a trap for us. Hah! Have already dashed off an e-mail to my local radio wingnut, starting with the line, "DON'T give me garbage about Liberals lacking compassion-----I'm CELEBRATING!!!!!"

I don't believe that HANNITY can fill the shoes. Probably it will be O'REILLY, although O'REILLY doesn't have LIMBOsevic's breadth.

In a way I am wary of LIMBOsevic taking Ahhhnuld's groping and WILSON out of the headlines right now. Plus they've got a supposed battle raging, with the Pakistanis supposedly trapping Osama.

But for the MOMENT----------------YIPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

If Tommy Chong gets 9 months for selling water pipes online, then Rush deserves AT LEAST a similar punishment.

CNN has been reading it, to the effect that he "is not aware" of any investigation going on, but that if there is, he will cooperate fully. BWAHAHAHA. Even if they let him skate, he's RUINED with his Fundy-dittoheads. Speaking of FUND-----didya know John FUND was his ghostwriter for his first book?

29. Clinton's Fault
Rush on the War on Drugs (from Rushonline.com)

<snip>
Talk about a failed government program! If this thing works any better we will all be on drugs by the year 2000. And now we are having our Right to Bear Arms threatened over it! The drug related violence, which is just the drug gangs fighting over territory, is the best excuse for gun control the Liberals ever had.

<snip>

Yes folks, we can probably expect to hear that Clinton made him an addict.
