Some evacuees may be forced to leave hotel rooms because of football
"Tuscaloosa has been an area where those escaping the storm, particularly from Louisiana and Mississippi, have found refuge. However, hotel space is limited, and virtually every room in Tuscaloosa has been booked for this weekend by out-of-town football fans. There is no easy solution.

...

The reality is that hotels will not be able to house evacuees on a charity basis and so most are going to have to make other arrangements soon."

So far I haven't heard of anyone actually being asked to leave yet. I'd like to think the fans aren't so hard-hearted that they're going to use their reservations while evacuees are forced to find other accomodations. The thought of that happening is sickening.

1. I'd like to believe that, too, but....
listening to the jock freaks on the car radio, nothing gets in the way of a football game. :(

5. You're expecting private hotels to give up their income
for the po folk? You're expecting affluent traveling football fans to give up their hotel rooms for the po folk?

Don't hold your breath. The affluent don't do sacrifice.

7. I resent that. Actually, I resent that a lot.
That is stereotyping, and it is unfair, not to mention quite inaccurate. :nuke:

6. Mildly disturbing and perverse part.
"There was a reliable report that Shula offered to give up every room with the staff and players just staying in their residences, but the hotel said that would not be necessary."

Hey, maybe the refugees can stay in your dorm for that night. Wadda ya say you big football lugs you?

Remind me not to visit that city ever.
