About NO, he just asked if there was no evacuation plan for the poor people because about 80% of them are black.

I so respect Bernie. He didn't wait 20 minutes into his radio program before asking this.

before someone, and can you believe that Nancy Grace was one of them, to state that maybe some of those who didn't get out COULDN'T get out. It so easy for those folks in their nice AC offices to think everyone in NOLA drives a Lexus.

5. Yes, Bernie was reading from Salon's War Room section

He was talking about how one NO resident was interviewed about why he didn't get out. The man said he didn't have the $40 for gas - even if he did have a car.

During the news there was an interview with a Garden District resident who said that cars are being stolen in that neighborhood left and right. People are trying to leave the city and a car is about the only way.

10. Whew! Glad I found this thread... I completely agree with

Bernie's assessment and many of your's too.

I cannot believe that in other threads people are incriminating all those looters<--->black folk for stealing SOME FOOD, WATER, DRY CLOTHING, DIAPERS, TAMPAX, TOILET PAPER, FLOATING MATTRESSES, SHOES, etc.................... WHEN in another town there is a store that has opened it's doors so that the mostly white population, standing on dry ground, can come in and get some basic needs FOR FREE! None of that was offered in the heart of N.O.!

That's not to say I condone true criminal activity such as shooting each other or stealing jewelry, or robbing neighbors etc...BUT what is really going on in N.O? Seems obvious to me..........IT'S A CATASTROPHE with NO immediate rescue in site. I would be helping myself to some stuff for my and my families survival too! I hope some people got some radios and a LOT of batteries so they can finally find out where they need to go or IF any rescue is imminent.

This is NOT a Rodney King riot, it's a tragedy.

I so grieve for all those in the Gulf states.
