Martial Law
Am I being overly paranoid when I start worrying that if gas prices shoot up high enough around the country that we may see rioting start and Martial Law put into place?

Maybe they don't need that LIBOP event next month to put it into place after all ... ???

Or do I just have my tinfoil hat on too tightly?

2. If there's a sudden pinch in the pocketbook they know it's all for naught.
They don't want an oil distribution catastrophe any more than we do. They want slow, hard-to-notice erosion of middle and lower class status that won't rock the boat on the way to a palace economy.

9. I can tell you what LIHOP means.
Let It Happen on Purpose. I've never heard of LIBOP. Maybe it's just a typo.

4. Something else to think about...
I don't think the black people of this country are terribly happy about how their families and friends in NO have been left to die of drowning, disease, and murder. I'm boiling mad about it, I know that much.

It's becoming crystal clear that there has been gross mismanagement here and it all comes down to Bush. Whether he meant it or not is unclear. But the fact is that thousands are going to be dead. Almost all black. If it had been affluent whites, things would have been very different.

And people are going to realize the meaning of this very quickly, both white and black.

This is not going to be pretty.

brazil, welcome to DU!
And I think you're right. At least, I know I'm so boiling mad I can't see straight, and I certainly can't sleep, or I wouldn't be up posting in the middle of the night.

Whether or not Bushco "wants" this problem, they created it, they've got it, and they've proven they're incapable of solving a first-grade word search puzzle, let alone a crisis like this.

10. welcome to du, brazil, but then it's all like...
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 03:40 AM by bridgit
millions did leave the area & would that it were so but their welfare checks didn't happen to fall on the day katrina said, "it's go time!!" which is part of my point so that i'm not nearly as concerned as to any perceived "mismanagement" of the bush admin in the run-up (as they are so incompetent that no one expects them to do anything anyhow) as i am the management of chaos & the issue that is too likely to follow as just another republican talking point.

in secret, my sense is that the super-rich will say to each other & through their talk radio, beltway boys/mouth pieces in code words & buzz phrase', "thank the founders for the electoral college, gentlemen. for there is our rabble enemy. they are the ones who are destroying our precious america"

the effect may be an acceleration of the further disassembling of our social services
