People keep talking about "distractions" as if we can't keep more than
one idea in our minds at a time. Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion, I do believe most people can walk and chew gum at the same time. Just because we are being hit with a group of BIG stories regarding the incompetence and criminality of the current administration and their henchmen, I don't think that we are being distracted by any of it. Every revelation is just another piece of the big picture. The theft of te 2000 election, the quagmire in Iraq, demanding another $87 billion for their hair-brained schemes, tax cuts for the rich, no WMD's found according to the David Kay report, wanting another $600 million to keep looking for WMDs on top of the $300 million already spent, the White House going to the Supreme Court to prevent Cheney's energy commission papers from being released, the Rove/Novak story, Rush's being fired from ESPN for racist remarks, and his possible pill-popping addiction. Remember, Limbaugh is typical of the type of "media" thugs who pander for Bush and push his agenda down our throats by threat and intimidation, as well as insult and degradation. These are not distracting our attention from the real issue. They are all part of the real issue, the insanity of the people who are calling the shots for our country. It's just one big happy family of liars, thugs, racists, and nutcases.

I don't think we need to worry about anything taking our minds off the administration, I think we need to pay close attention to each and every new revelation so that we can paint a clear, complete, coherent picture of what the Supreme Court did to this country when they installed the Great Imposter in the White House. Nixon's downfall didn't come with just the revelations of Watergate, they came when people put together the "whole story". The break in of Daniel Ellsberg's office, the erasure of 18 minutes of tape, the story of the White House Plumbers, etc. It took a lot of pieces of information to connect the dots and convice the American people that Nixon was, in fact, a "crook". Future historians (if there is a future) will take all this information and in hindsight paint a very ugly picture of this country during this period of time.

1. Piling on is good.
The more bad news for chimpy, the better. The cumulative effect will be felt by the sheeple and they will yearn for someone else to be our fearless leader. Let's hope the stories keep rolling in for another year!

2. It certainly looks to me as though distractions work very well!
Nobody seems to be worried about core issues.

3. I would venture to say the outing of a CIA Agent is a Core issue
Also the Hypocrisy of the right when it comes to Crime (drugs, leaking classified information, etc.)are also core issues.

4. I Am Sure People here can multi-task
I have never understood by people seem to think that gathering as much information as possible about the political system in all it forms is somehow wrong or works at cross purposes...

Much of the agenda is controlled by the Media

Personally I think the 'real' rulers have jettisoned Bush Co. and there will be a lot of distractions as they float the right mix to eliminate Bush, but save their own legitimacy in funding him in the first place.

There was someone mentioning that the Media hearings under Powell was a distraction during the immediate post-war period--it deflected--attention to the lack of WMDs.

I use this small example of an accumulation of 'debris' clinging to a deeply corrupt and criminal organization and the fact this Media ruling proved to be widely unpopular and even the GOP had to re-consider the enormous powers given to the Media--and it is good that that 'dstraction' got attention.

Is Bev's accusations regarding the fundamental basis of democracy being undermined a distraction?

What ever happened to the minor repeat reporting of the Nin Laden family being 'escorted' safely while Americans were eating chocolate bars in Gander Newfoundland wondering if their families were still alive?

Reporting discussion on the PAT act?

Comments on the British investigations of the British?

Any news on the anthrax killer? (this one is particularly disturbing because the targetted victims were prominent Democrats--suggesting the activity of a mil. linked death squad and UNTIL the FBI does it's job--I will continue to think this)

etc etc...
You can consider this and most things a 'distraction' if you don't want to fall down the slippery slope and start to confront a frightening reality

5. Just remember a distraction is also a distraction for the bad guys.
Now, more than ever, when all the rethugs need their biggest guns in their corner, their most prominent mouthpiece suddenly has PLENTY ELSE on his plate. They need guys like him more than ever to continue the spin cycle, and ol Rush is now the one with the distractions.
