I had a vision that Wes Clark was the president

The General was in complete control of the situation.

He had pre-positioned a fleet of cruise ships in the event that NOLA flooded.

Since the war on Iraq was over and troop withdrawal had begun, President Clark had already brought home many of the National Guardsmen. They were eager to lend assistance to the devestated areas.

Clark and a small team comprised of members of his cabinet have established a command center in the President's home state of Arkansas.

He has instructed his cabinet to draw up plans to assess the best way to feed and clothe the refugees, while determining the best permanent housing options.

The President is deeply troubled that he was not able to undo the damage of the Bush cuts in FEMA and the damage caused by those cuts.

When asked to comment on the hurricane and the President's handling of the crisis, ex-president George Bush, whose trial is just beginning at The Hague said, "doesn't that guy ever take a vacation?" His cellmate Dick Cheney had no comment.

It made me cry. Clark would be all over this and know exactly what to do and who to call to make it happen. Not only would he not be galavanting around the country with cake and fundraisers spewing bs. He wouldn't sleep, would be very involved in every aspect and things would be very different than they are now. *sigh*

8. I'm not convinced that he rocks

he was on The Majority Report last night criticizing setting a date to get out of Iraq. I don't know all the details but what I heard concerned me a great deal.

He wants us out of there but he has said numerous times that he is against proposing a timeline. He thinks it will make things worse rather than better. And, if he thinks the idea is wrong, you're just not going to get him to say it is right just because saying so is politically expedient.

Here's a bit of an answer he gave in an interview in Wisconsin, BTW:

Bump: So would you support (Wisconsin U.S. Senator) Russ Feingold’s suggestion of a timeline for troop withdrawal?

Clark: First of all, I like Russ Feingold, he’s a hell of a good guy, smart as a whip, and I really empathize with the feelings that are behind that resolution. But I wouldn’t want the United States right now to set a hard and fast exit timeline; because I think it takes away from our ability to maneuver strategically and diplomatically.

But I would say this, if the president can’t create a winning strategy in Iraq, then we need to get our troops out of there. The president this far has not succeeded in creating a winning strategy in Iraq.

7. Clark would have never gone into Iraq

and yes, he would have been right on top of the diaster in the gulf, but his solution for Iraq now that we are there I am very skeptical about. Yes, diplomacy with the neighboring countries is not a bad way to go, but unfortunately I think it is now too late for that. We are now a catalyst for the anger that is occurring in that area, and the longer we stay the more Americans will get killed, and the closer we will be to civil war. After Hussein was overthrown, the UN recommended that they take over, and the bush administration would NOT let them. It is too late now. Unless in a VERY short time you can establish a diplomatic agreement with all the countries in that area, we need to get out of there

9. In Roman history there was military leader that had

to take control of the government and restore the democratic republic. Maybe Wes will be that man. I keep meaning to reread my Roman history. There are significant parallels.
