Was the Limbaugh Ear Flap a Cover for the Addiction Problem?
Could it be that the whole thing over Rush's hearing loss and surgery was a cover for his addiction to pain killers and a period of drug rehab? Haven't there been allegations that he never really had surgery performed at all? Maybe this is all coming out now.

9. Now that you mention it,
....yes. He'd have to have had some sort of "problem" requiring "surgery" to explain a lengthy absense from his daily rant. Most minor surgery requires only a week or two. Rehab can last a week to a month. It might be useful to see just how long he was gone.

I don't fault anybody for drug addiction. After all, this is a pretty nasty world right now, thanks in part to Lamebawl's efforts on the air. I'm a little surprised more people don't reach for the various bottles to get through the day.

I do think this whole megaflap is a smokescreen, though. Anything to get the BushCo TREASON off the front page. They're willing to alllow their propaganda mouthpiece to be sacrificed to do it.

3. No. The earflap was caused by the abuse of painkillers
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 10:38 AM by Gman
according to another thread around here. And I, for one, don't doubt that he lost his hearing because his voice was very definitely different over a period of time.

7. I found the thread

This makes even more sense. One of the drugs he has allegedly been abusing causes loss of hearing.

8. According to what I have read,
hearing loss due to abuse of hydrocodone and acetampinophen, while possible, is quite rare.

10. Drug use can slur speech
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 10:57 AM by StClone
A former ditto-head and nurse friend of mine made an off-the-cuff remark that Rush's voice pattern sounded like some one goofed up on certain pain meds that require you not to operate heavy machinery.

4. Massive use of opiates can cause hearing loss
The two are probably connected

5. yes, persistent allegations
However, it was alleged that he did receive surgery -- cosmetic surgery -- which he almost certainly did. You don't lose that amount of weight and not need to have some skin dealt with. The hearing loss was a story created to cover for the fact that he often slurred and seemed not to know what he was saying -- classic signs of being extremely intoxicated.

It could even be, as some theorize, that he suffered hearing loss as a consequence of his addiction. I had no idea that the drugs caused this problem, although I had observed several drug addicts who had obvious hearing loss to the point of being annoying how loudly they spoke. I just never put two and two together before.

isn't it fun to speculate?

6. Rush did that detox
where they knock you out and purify your blood-I knew about the drug use from a freind who worked for him and also knew Wilma the lady who did the dirty deeds for him.
