All the young men and women who have no homes, jobs, food, clothes - if I were in their shoes, the military would be looking real good to me now. This could solve Bush Administration's recruitment problem in a flash - and someone I believe they won't bother to be subtle about it.

My first thought concerning all the people who'll be out of work is that the appropriate thing would be a WPA-like program of massive reconstruction along the Gulf that would directly employ displaced people. My second thought was, "Shit, we have Bush, not Roosevelt, for a president this time." So my third thought was precisely yours.
