The real lesson of Katrina
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 08:41 AM by Atman
is scary as all hell.

Even given at least two days notice -- much more if you include the storm track across Florida, although Katrina was merely a Cat1 at that point -- our government, our massive, bloated, redundant Homeland Security office, FEMA, every last one of them were still completely unprepared for a disaster. Despite the words of Bush-Buddy Haley Barbour's fawning over Our Great Exhalted Leader on the morning news programs, no one in Washington (or clearing brush at the ranch) seemed to have a clue what was going on. I think Bush was reading "My Pet Goat II: The Milking."

Friends, WE HAD WARNING THIS WAS COMING and STILL we are completely unprepared. It served as a great demonstration to "the terrorists," eh? What are we billions and billions in debt for? What is all this new government for? We're fucked!

Ironically, seeing BushCo's feeble response to Katrina, it is almost comforting to think that 9/11 was MIHOP. Because I can't imagine how fucked up the response from this administration would be to a REAL attack!
