There would be dancing in the streets around the world, if Bush were
impeached now. There would be flags and champagne.

I am not joking. The Third World-level incompetence and Soviet-style indifference of the US administration towards its own citizens is being seen in an appalling new light this week and will be bringing comfort to tyrants and dictators everywhere. It doesn't seem to matter whether you are a soldier in Iraq or an African-American in Louisiana - for Bush and co, you are all expendable; the tears of your loved ones just dry up in the desert of compassion run by Republican sociopaths.

I am finding all the reports so upsetting. I don't understand why the US Navy is not there already with hospital ships, why the US Marines are not dropping pallets of water bottles and babies nappies, why there is absolutely no sign of a coordinated evacuation. Is the government afraid of being sued? Are they waiting for the next hurricane to wash away all those who now have no jobs or homes or possessions?

I really don't understand.

2. The people that need the help most
aren't white. Now you understand.

8. That is not an acceptable answer
I know that you were being ironic but your post sort of sounds "accepting" of the racism of your government. I feel sure that if Bush were to read your post, he would think that you were endorsing his position.

I was being ANGRY. Mostly that it has to be pointed out to anyone who has lived in this country since Jan. of 2001.

If you're black or brown, you're dead. If you're white and poor, you're screwed first, then you're dead. If you're any of the above and handicapped or old, you don't count in anybody's reckoning.

3. They just don't have the manpower
They're all either in Iraq or at duty stations they can't be removed from.

Heck even Pennsylvania is sending 2500 of our own National Guard down there to help.

Talk about our military being stretched thin. If I were North Korea, I'd be watching this reponse and realize that if I were to invade South Korea the U.S. could do nothing to stop me, other than nukes...I might just be crazy enough to gamble they wouldn't use them.

6. I won't take that bet.
The President has the horribly ignorant, abhorrent view that nukes are a "first strike" weapon. He would have no scruples about using them if convenient. It's not as if his business interests or buddies would be affected...

:puke:

7. Yes, Iran must be thinking that if they nuked Washington now, there
would be no come-back.

10. America still has lots of available fit people with skills -
firemen for instance. What's missing is any frigging national leadership. The mayor of NO and governor of LA must be having nervous breakdowns by now: there is only so much that a governor or mayor can achieve - in America's probably worst natural disaster in living memory - with absolutely zilch national backup.

4.  Bring in the Marines they like water!

Damn, why can't they help these people ?

Why, because Bush is dumb and MEAN and could care less.

He can KNOW there were WMD (not) and does not know how to send in the Army and Marines to the helpless in America.
