Has technology replaced action ?
Have talk radio, Cable TV , and computers become a virtual place for talking about "action" and what needs to be done rather than participating in the action itself? Has the technology replaced the necessity of compassion and the follow-up that is needed to help those that need help? This is perhaps more of a sociological observation, but it is somewhat "unreal" to watch reporters "report" on the situations but do not seem to feel any responsibility to assist in any way other than to report. Is that what we do on the computers also? Have we become "virtual" observation posts that report on the misery surrounding us and somehow that has become a substitute for another reality? Perhaps too heavy to discuss? I am not referring to the good folks at DU because I know many, many people here that put their money where their mouth is and are not afraid to act to help others. But, I'm speaking more in a general sense about technology...
