A sinister explanation for what we're seeing in NO? |

Many have argued (e.g., Paul Krugman) that much of the Bush administration's behavior is motivated by the desire to demonstrate to the American people that the Federal government is very bad at what it does (viz. Social Security) and that services are performed better when they are executed by the private sector.
Might the chaos in New Orleans be a manifestation of the above modus operandi? Or is our leadership merely criminally incompetent? Or is it a combination of the two?

I think you would seriously have to try to fuck it up this badly. How hard could it be to get some water trucks and a few airdrops of food?
