Dear Vice President

I am a British citizen who has been watching events of recent days in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama with growing horror and disbelief. I don't want to take up too much of your time with this e-mail: I wish only to say that NOTHING you or the President could do just now would impress me (and probably millions of others around the world) so much as arranging for a "drop" of plastic bottles of drinking water on pallets at the Superdome, at the convention centre in New Orleans, anywhere in fact where people - a baby died today in the convention centre - are dying of thirst in the richest country in the world. What is difficult about this?

It is unfathomable to me that at this point no water has been dropped, no food, no convoys of supplies...most incompetent rescue effort possible.
