http://www.michnews.com/artman/publish/article_9292.shtmlI had to reply to this article. It was beyond my belief that someone could wave this in front of people's faces!
Mr. Hopkins,
In respect to this letter, you should be ashamed of yourself as a Christian, as well as a human being. Christianity teaches a doctrine of love and care for your brothers and sisters, regardless of their race, gender, sexual preference, etc. We as human beings are bound in a sense of compassion when such a tragedy strikes a place, and that sense is what is fastly becoming the gap between humans and Christians.
I'm not going to spend hours lambasting your beliefs, nor am I going to berate you for them, but there is something that needs to be adjusted in your doctrine. In your religion, your views of evil are simple:evil is and evil does. Also in your religion, it is a common law that Christ guides his "soldiers" to save the so called sinners. Your God doesn't punish, rather it embraces the flaws of man and shows a sense of understanding. So in this sense, your point of God bringing this horrible storm to our coast is illogical.
Knowing this as a former Christian, people like you are making me glad that I broke away from the corruption and the hate motivated teachings of such a controling institution of "faith".
Take a grim reappraisal of your beliefs. What you said is sick and unjust to the people who lost their livelyhoods in New Orleans.
If there is a hell, I'll see you there.
Signed
Edward G Rochelle
