Texas has announced a program for Louisiana evacuees |
|
I saw it first on the internet, but confirmed it with the state agency:
The Texas Department of Health and Human Services is offering food stamps (several months' worth) to evacuees from Louisiana. Those requesting such help should look up the nearest place on the department's web site: www.hhsc.state.tx.us/
In Houston, you can call the Region 6 office at 713-767-2000 to find the nearest neighborhood office. All you need to have is your driver's license. They did caution to be prepared for a wait and delay as they are getting heavy traffic.
I am very proud of these folks. My newest home state helping out people from my birthplace.

but Gov. Perry will just bill the federal government & probably make a few bucks off it. Sorry but I don't trust their motives.
