This disaster is providing Bush a chance to kick the environmentalists in the groin. We are going to see a number of executive orders and legislation that will repeal environmental laws and allowing drilling in any part of the country. The ramifications of this disaster will be felt for years.

7. Venezuela was the first to offer aid..

and yet...when u see the lists of countries that have offered aid...on CNN or MSNBC...Venezuela is never listed! Chavez offered humanitarian aid workers, water, food...and fuel, he is only waiting for the go ahead to send this help...but nope...we dont take this offer...dont even list this help as available...we just let the people starve and die of lack of water...then tell them to be patient...while the pres tells the people of the usa, that it is up to them to fund the relief through dontations.

"On tonight's news, CTV (Canadian TV) said that support was offered from Canada. Planes are ready to load with food and medical supplies and a system called "DART" which can provide fresh water and medical supplies is standing by. Department of Homeland Security as well as other U.S. agencies were contacted by the Canadian government requesting permission to provide help. Despite this contact, Canada has not been allowed to fly supplies and personnel to the areas hit by Katrina. So, everything here is grounded. Prime Minister Paul Martin is reportedly trying to speak to President Bush tonight or tomorrow to ask him why the U.S. federal government will not allow aid from Canada into Louisiana and Mississippi. That said, the Canadian Red Cross is reportedly allowed into the area.

Canadian agencies are saying that foreign aid is probably not being permitted into Louisiana and Mississippi because of "mass confusion" at the U.S. federal level in the wake of the storm."

In my cynical mind, watching this murder by purposeful mistakes, it's because they have to allow a full-fledged disaster.

This admin makes good use of full-fledged disasters.

It's the only thing that makes sense; why else would they take take the heat over it that they're taking now? For future benefit. Plans. There are reasons for mistakes.

Because they need the disaster to look too hard to handle by any other than more and draconian Federal efforts. It's the only thing I can think of; it only took a day to realize huge efforts were required to save lives, and only a second day to see they weren't going to happen.

Now on the forth day, it's LIHOP. Only question left is precisely why. What particular goal, attacking which particular civil right.

I imagine this one is the right to live.
