Who's telling the truth, Reporters on ground in NOLA or Gov.Officials
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 02:59 PM by demo dutch
The Gov. officials saying that relief is there contrary to reporters on ground that are saying nothing is happening just heared a live report on NPR from a Dutch reporter on the ground in NOLA who is reporting that neither FEMA nor troops are in NOLA, noone but local police who are trying to cope without police or supplies!!!

Reporter also said that world is watching in amazement that the most powerful country cannot get relief going. Saying that CNN crews got here and locals got here with their boats who are helping. Said people in the Netherlands can't believe that there is a war breaking out inside the city and that the goverment is doing nothing!

2. Ch. 2 CBS noontime news showed people around Superdome.
Said buses will not get them out, and by nightfall, they will be on their own.

I went to a friend's apartment. She had been watching CNN, and told me that the evacuation is happening rapidly now. And "shooting, shooting, shooting" is what is being reported.

The CBS man was in a helicopter flying over, so I saw the people sitting around the Superdome, and only one bus was visible.

4. Believe the locals. I said this on another thread...
I have watched WWL and some WSDU and also have seen the Gov's statements for the past three days. I believe the local reporters and the Mayor a lot more than the Gov.

There are people calling in to WWL and being put on the air, begging for help. This afternoon, a hospice was begging for help. The hospice's generator was going to run out of fuel soon; they had patients that needed to be moved and they were begging for workers to move patients because their elevator had broken. Then a hospice staff memeber said they had a staff of 40 people still there, trapped also. They were told by local officials that other hospitals would help the patients IF they could get the patients moved to them, but the staff was on their own. WWL was trying to help connect these people to the authorities. This is not an isolated incident - it's been happening all week.

WWL has reporters on the ground, videotaping and showing their reports. They aired a report yesterday of victims who were being ferried out... many of these people saved themselves, got off their roofs because they realized no one was coming...
