Shaquille O'Neal Donated $500,000.00 To Katrina Victims
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 03:04 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
I know he makes more money in a year than most folks reading this thread will make in a lifetime but that's still a generous donation.....

LSU is his alma mata and he went to Baton Rouge to distribute personally food and water to disaster victims...

I'm proud to be a fan of the Big Diesel...

7. God Bless Shaq....
He's richy rich but Mike Tyson made over three hundred million dollars in the ring and he's bankrupt...

I made a donation too but I'll bet you will miss your $175.00 more than Shaq misses his 500 K....

12. I'm a college student so I will miss that money dearly. ;-)
In all seriousness though, it is a small price to pay considering what people down in LA and MS are going through.

15. Proportionally it's probably the same
Shaq has a house here in Orlando; it's sort of a mini Versailles. $500,000 is no drop in the bucket to him though, I'm sure-just as $175 isn't pocket change to you or I.

13. Shaq is a genuinely good guy
He does this kind of stuff all the time and most of it never gets publicity. And I honestly believe him when he says he wants to go into law enforcement after his career is over. His dad raised him well.

16. He also paid for George Mikan's funeral a couple months ago
Mikan was a basketball legend back in the '50's, with the Minneapolis Lakers.

Shaq said that without Mikan there would be no Shaq. And he's right.

Shaq has become a class act over the years.

21. Compare to Heinz Corp. -- Also donated $500,000.
You'd think such a huge corporation could do better than match the donation of one private ball player.
