A New Orleans Airlift? Any air dropping of supplies in N.O.?
We did a Berlin Airlift. Along with Redstone's thread on the Saigon evacuation, I have been wondering why I have not heard ANY discussion from reporters or officials concerning the dropping of basic supplies to persons trapped.

I got my car aligned here in NC today and a Army Reserve guy came into the waiting room and said he may be activated. Some other Reserve folks, who did air traffic control in Iraq are heading down to New Orleans to see about dropping supplies.

I turned to him and said "You are first person I have heard mention air dropping supplies. I haven't heard any TV reporters or commentators or officials mention the possibility." "Oh really?" he said. I said that I realized there were massive logistic problems, where to drop supplies - in the water, on rooftops, and there is always the problem of killing the people you are trying to help by crushing them, but at this point, it seems we should try everything.

There seems to be - via CNN - much more aircraft activity down there.

A 78-year-old sitting across from us said. "I served with Patton during WWI."

"I don't much care for the current person in the office"

"There is a lot of that point of view around," said the Reserve guy.
