Stand up, or get the hell out of the way. EVERYTHING Clinton says is calculated to improve Hillary's election chances.

16. I agree. I don't trust her at all. But right now we have to take ACTION
to find ways to bring relief to those suffering, dying people in the South. We need compassion and creative ingenuity and energy, not just anger.

and he has to go now. There is more than enough evidence with which to impeach and convict the Criminal in Chief.

Clinton isn't in charge, but that didn't stop him from spewing the BushCo spin on this disaster.

I'm so disappointed, I expected more from him. I thought he actually stood for something. Why did he have to prove me wrong now? :(

Either way, I doubt enough people near the top will step up. The people are going to have to retake the country, somehow...

18. Wes Clark has been heard from, and HE IS FURIOUS
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2051179

And of course our wonderful Mr. Conyers has been blogging and speaking too. But the media isn't interested. Rather talk about the looters and try to avoid any blame of the government.

WE NEED ACTION. People are dying, civilization is being stripped away down there as food and water have. The administration clearly plans to allow all those people to die while they dither.

WE CANNOT WAIT to organize active relief.

I can't drive there, but I'm going to be collecting adult and child clothing at yard sales and looking for specific addresses here on DU to mail them to. Need that mail delivery and a distribution system to get it to the right people. Don't want to just dump on the Red Cross.

23. I am not going to beat up on Bill
AS an ex-president, he is not going to criticize--you can weigh in after you have been out of office for awhile, and more than one president has held office, but it is really bad form to dis your immediate successor, especially during a time of national emergency. He is treating chimpy as he would have liked to be treated.

What would you have him do? Call the chimp an asshole while NOLA descends into chaos? How would that HELP the situation there right now?

He is recovering from open heart surgery. His goals are to help the people in NOLA and MI, not advance the chimp's agenda.

Besides, it really pisses off the wingnuts when they see chimp desperately grabbing Bill and attempting to use him as a shield against slings and arrows aimed at his own incompetence.

Bill always put the people first, and that is what he is doing now. If he has to dance with the fucking devil to help them, that is what he will do.

I think the bashing is completely unjustified, frankly. No wonder we have challenges winning elections--we'd win by a landslide, even with the cheating, if we simply had a bit more unity and pragmatism in our approach/

Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 04:45 PM by seabeyond
is. it is an embarrassment that bush has to keep going to dad and clinton to tell him how to run the country and be a leader. as soon as i saw that, i went to our business. fundies all around. i was ridiculing bush having to bring in clinton and dad. one fundie said, he had to do that before right. i say tsunami, ya that is right she says. just reinforcement how bad bush is

not bad clinton.

bad bush that he needs to go to previous presidents cause he cant do shit.

further, the repugs are pissed at bush. let this develop

yes it was a bunch of shit bush telling us WE had to do OUR part. we do. he is the one that doesn't.

i am working in this org getting the companies on board. might have school aids and a trucking company

24. I just heard from my congressman's office
One of his folks called me back from my call earlier today (inspired by DU). I am a reporter and I know him, but he was calling me back just as a citizen wearing my citizen hat.

The young man told me that my congressman has been going all day long trying to get some help for victims, and the house leadership will take some kind of action tomorrow.

He is very upset about the whole situation. The young man that I talked to agreed with me 100 percent, and said that the congressman did, too. He also said that they have talked to the White House three times today trying to get some action and had "zero response."
He said he has never seen the congressman so fired up.

Yes, I know I have not mentioned his name, and that's because we were off the record and I take that very seriously. If I say I won't print it, I don't. But I must say, I've complained often about his being too far to the right for a Democrat, and I will think long and hard before saying anything else in anger about the guy who represents my district. He's mad, I believe it, and I hope ALL of Congress is as fired up as he is.
