NOLA Needs "Operation Vittles"
In June 26, 1948 The Berlin Airlift began in response to the Soviet blockade of land travel into that city. The nickname for the American efforts was Operation Vittles. The USAF had flown about 2,326,204 tons of supplies to Berlin in 277,264 flights. Now more than ever the people of New Orleans need the same daring and heroic deeds the USAF displayed over 50 yrs ago.

1. And they did that with dinky little DC-4s. And in Saigon, 30 years ago,
we were flying 500 people at a time out in L-1011s. Under mortar and rocket fire, at that.

2. Yeah, except operations have to have an adjective now....
