VIACOM just donated a $1,000,000 cash for Katrina victims
I'm happy to say the corporate behemoth I work at is doing a really great thing here. I already donated to the Red Cross, but it looks like I'll have to do it again so that Viacom will match me. Here's some other info, if anyone cares:

Importantly, Viacom is stepping up right away with a $1,000,000 cash contribution. There is also a worldwide employee matching gift program for employee donations. For any donation made by a Viacom employee to the American Red Cross Hurricane 2005 Relief Fund, Viacom will match the amount.

In addition, MTV, VH1 and CMT have already announced a multi-artist, multi-genre, multi-platform live performance special that will air across all three networks on Saturday, September 10th. CBS and UPN will join forces with the four other broadcast networks to air a primetime entertainment special on Tuesday, September 6, and video of the event will be streamed on CBS.com and made available to other broadband Internet providers. These specials will raise funds to aid the relief efforts of the American Red Cross and similar organizations, and will be part of ongoing awareness campaigns to let viewers know how to get involved and participate in the relief efforts. MTV News will also air a special on the hurricane relief efforts, and mtvU is partnering with Urban Outfitters and nearly 7 million college students across the nation to mobilize clothing drives, donations and volunteer relief efforts.

I mean, really. And, they'll get fantastic PR in return. It's a win-win.

Oh, yeah ... and it's the right thing to do.
