DU'ers: do you know if Wyoming, Montana, or Kansas have high gas prices?
My parents are in NC but have to take a trip out there next week.

They are scared of running into fuel costs of 5.00 per gallon, or closed gas stations.

I'm trying to calm them a bit because our NC fuel *has* been a tad in shortage the last couple of days.

But what's the fuel situation in Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, South Dakota?

Anybody?

7. I am in Bozeman MT (just north of Yellowstone)
Gas today was $2.849/$2.949/$3.049 (reg/mid/sup). It has risen $0.15 since yesterday, and I suspect it'll go up again tomorrow. All the stations in this town are the same price regardless of who runs them, and they don't change price multiple times in a day, but I think it's gone up every day this week. No lines or shortages here that I know of (yet).

11. I hope the prices will fall some next week
but I'm not holding my breath.

My parents are flipping out thinking they will have to pay 5.00/gallon or something and be half-way across the country. I just can't see that--but I've been wrong before.

12. Most of the gasoline sold nationwide is traded on NYMEX.
The wholesale price of NYMEX went up 50 cents because of the Hurricane. If gas stations rose their prices more than 50 cents to cover the cost of wholesale, they are price gouging. Report it.
