FEMA Michael D. Brown
Remember the name, (instead of fema guy) to prepare for the criminal indictments. The guy has no public health or medical training whatsoever. His only qualifications for his responsibilities are being a buddy of bubbleboy. He WILL be held responsible for his criminal negligence. I swear to god.

http://www.fema.gov/about/bios/brown.shtm

"Prior to joining FEMA, Mr. Brown practiced law in Colorado and Oklahoma, where he served as a bar examiner on ethics and professional responsibility for the Oklahoma Supreme Court and as a hearing examiner for the Colorado Supreme Court. He had been appointed as a special prosecutor in police disciplinary matters. While attending law school he was appointed by the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee of the Oklahoma Legislature as the Finance Committee Staff Director, where he oversaw state fiscal issues. His background in state and local government also includes serving as an assistant city manager with emergency services oversight and as a city councilman.

Mr. Brown was also an adjunct professor of law for the Oklahoma City University.

A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Brown holds a bachelor's degree in Public Administration/Political Science from Central State University, Oklahoma. He received his J.D. from Oklahoma City University’s School of Law."

9. "polishing the spin all day"
This is burning my ass! Besides the fact that he is F'ing lying, why isn't he DOING HIS JOB??!!

Almost every half of an hour I see him on T.V. being interviewed. Why isn't he spending that time coordinating relief to those in NO??!!

I am furious. They are sending in thousands of NG. But every report I have heard makes it sound as though they will be there for law & order. Well, that's all well and good, BUT WHERE IS THE WATER? WHERE IS THE FOOD? WHERE IS THE MEDICAL SUPPLIES?

HELP THESE PEOPLE! NOW!

4. No public safety? No disaster management?
No medicine or life sciences?
I have friends who would kill for a job like this-they've done the studies (nursing, disaster management, and another has certifications as a police officer, firefighter and EMT) but can't make it all the way through.
Yet he did.

5. Does he do anything besides talk on CNN?
And blame people for "choosing" not to leave? He complains that as soon as they evacuate a bunch of people from the superdome.. MORE people seem to "come out of nowhere"? And he said that if people wanted to "walk to safety" form the convention center, they should just leave...

This guy should not go there....

11. Another * mistake...
Brown, like most Bush appointees, had no relevant experience when he was made head of FEMA. Just another "yes" man for the non-president. He has no clue what he is supposed to do. And the consequence - thousands may die needlessly. It is an outrage!

13. He needs to understand 1 thing RIGHT NOW!
We The People own Bush's Residence, his food and water, his utilities, his car, his helecopter, his plane, and HIS ASS. There is NOTHING he can do for President Bush that WE THE PEOPLE have not already done for him. Mr. Browns ONLY concern is helping the people of LA, MISS, AND ALA. Anything outside of that area WE THE PEOPLE shall take care of in a Constitutional manner and there is not a damned thing he can do about THAT.

16. He was just on CNN saying that no one at the federal level knew...
... there were people stranded at the Convention Center for the past few days. (Not the Superdome, but the Convention Center, where there are BODIES stacked against the walls.)

Mike Brown needs to be clapped in irons and hauled in to testify after all this is over. A Senate investigation should be the STARTING point. If it's possible to charge a government official for utter incompetence and negligence, then this SOB needs to land in jail.

This is just beyond belief. :grr:

25. On Nightline, he was insisting that the people at the
Convention Center were being given food and water regularly. When Ted Koppell insisted they were not, Brown said the equivalent of oh, pardon me, I meant the Superdome.

21. Here's a story about Brown from last winter

FEMA Director Michael D. Brown has "stymied investigations" and failed to accept responsibility for mistakes that led to more than $30-million in Hurricane Frances payments to residents of Miami-Dade, even though the county experienced "no more than a heavy rainstorm," Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla., wrote to Bush.

"Such a gross waste of taxpayer monies cannot be taken lightly," Wexler wrote.

Bush had not seen Wexler's letter but stands by Brown, said Taylor Gross, a White House spokesman. "The president has full faith in the outstanding job that Under Secretary Mike Brown and FEMA are doing in providing assistance to hurricane victims."

FEMA issued a statement saying the agency will cooperate with an ongoing criminal investigation by the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general into allegations of fraud in Miami-Dade.

On edit -- more details:

Florida lawmakers Tuesday called for state and federal investigations into how the government approved about $28 million in Hurricane Frances claims for new furniture, clothes and appliances for residents of Miami-Dade County, which was barely touched by the storm.

<snip>

The actions follow a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel Sunday that hurricane relief in Miami-Dade bought thousands of new televisions, microwaves, refrigerators and other appliances. FEMA paid for new cars, dental bills and a funeral, even though the county Medical Examiner recorded no deaths from Frances.

FEMA inspectors attributed damage to tornados -- there were none recorded in the county -- and in six instances listed "ice/snow" as the cause, the newspaper reported.

<snip>

Shaw wrote to FEMA Director Michael D. Brown six weeks ago, after the newspaper first reported that thousands of Miami-Dade residents had collected hurricane relief from the Labor Day storm that hit 100 miles to the north. Brown announced that FEMA would investigate, but so far has not provided any results or returned phone calls from the congressman's staff, said Shaw, chairman of Florida's delegation.
