Prediction: MSM Will Report *'s Poll Numbers "Soaring" Soon
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 05:18 PM by stopbush
It will be a total lie, but it will be their brazen attempt to nip the anti-bush talk in the bud. They'll report that he's around 60% and that "just like 9/11, the country is pulling behind their president to help their fellow Americans." The unpatriotic slurs will fly again as will the blame-the-victims mantra.

Count on it.

1. The AOL poll is already out
and it's not good news for Bush. A fake poll will not hold water, no pun intended.

16. I think you may be right - let's hope so
I think *'s been out there for all to see as the failure that he is. FEMA and Homeland Security were a day late and a dollar short. * himself - no surprise there - was a day late and came only with platitudes. People are starving and dying. Bodies are lying in the street. Hospitals are shut down. There is chaos and anarchy. He's had to solicit poppy and Clinton to get out there and beg handouts from corporations. This is horrifying, and I think many Americans, even part of his base, will think this is just one step too far. And the papers are reporting as much (apart from the WH-controlled outlets).

All of that aside, if the poll numbers do go up, I would suggest that there is a racial element in the numbers, and it would be interesting to delve into the number. Many of those affected are African-American, and we've seen here on other posts that many middle class white people are perfectly happy that those less well off and those who are minorities suffer and die. Yeah, yeah. I know that's a broad generalization, but you get the idea.

But I don't think that will happen. I think we're going to see him at 30% before the week is out.

4. New reporters are sickened by what's happened in New Orleans.
They can't believe this is happening in America. That doesn't translate into good news for Bushco.

5. Depends.
MAybe you can "soar" going down.

I'd think "free-fall" would be a better word.

7. no way - there's no spinning this
A friend of mine who is an ex-WH speech writer told me these exact words. Bush is history. He and the neocons will never recover from this. Trying to fake polls at this point will only cause even greater dissent and possibly even trigger outbreaks of violence in the rest of the country. There's no lid that won't blow off this kettle.

9. Not this time.
People are PISSED!! They see the people begging for help, for food and water, people dying. They're asking, "Where the hell is the help Bush promised??"

Bush is truly done.

10. Well perhaps they
Should poll those yet to be rescued.

The coverage I have been seeing, although its from the international media is people are really really pissed off this time.

Hell the government of Taiwan managed to evacuate half a million people, and only two people have died from their Hurricane.

12. I understand your concern, but I truly do not think so.
The welcome mat for this sort of thing has been worn out in most quarters. People are agitated and in no mood for a pseudo-"rally 'round the flag" display. This is contemptuous and the nation is in much WORSE condition in many ways than in January 2001.

13. He cannot reverse this wave. Not this time.
Funny, I have felt that the polls that kept putting him at "only 45% approval" were a bunch of malarky. He's been declining for quite some time. My guess is that he was at only about 35-30% approval for some time.

15. I think he'll get a bounce
I don't have your conviction that it'll happen, but yeah, if he'd quit acting peevish and pretend he's a take charge hotshot, goober nation and the relieved media will close ranks around him.
