Oh Aren't They Just So Noble?
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 06:22 PM by leftchick
and wtf are they laughing about?

Former US Presidents George H.W. Bush(R) and Bill Clinton leave the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, DC. The two former presidents were tapped to lead a private fund-raising campaign for victims of Hurricane Katrina.(AFP/Jim Watson)

On edit for clarity as requested:

I thought most folks were aware of it. Bill and GHWB held a cute photo op with 43. It was DISGUSTING how clinton was parroting the repuke lines like a good little doggie. He has lost all of the respect I ever had for him. He is now a repuke.

4. Yeah, real statesmanlike,
real compassionate, real couple of bozos yukkin' it up. Ain't this whole gig a shitload of fun?

Worthless, both of them. Utterly contemptible.

Clinton has become nothing but a figurehead, happy to be allowed to suck on the hind tit of the Fuckface family.

Wouldn't his mother - who was such a cool old broad - be ashamed of what he's doing now?

6. Clinton is just attempting
to distance himself from the far-left and pander to the more moderate sector of the population.

29. Why, so his wife can run in '08?
Far as I'm concerned unless she divorces him, she's a Republican just like her husband has become.

Buh bye, Bill.

8. Bill should be careful. You know the saying: You lie down with dogs...
you get up with fleas. Apologies to all dog owners/lovers out there--I'm with ya and would give almost anything to have my special doggie back who left me just a few weeks ago. The meaning behind this saying, though, seems a propo--maybe we should change it to "Lie down with swine, wake up covered with muck." We love ya, Bill. Flee while you still can. Better yet, do good things that you know the BFEE won't do. Best wishes to ya!

9. I do not understand the hatred when what they are trying to do is so good.
You guys are turning this into politics and right now is not the time. There are far bigger fish to fry.

I say good for both of them. I hope they have every success and I do not give a drizzly shit who gets credit for it. The attitude I see evidenced in this thread makes me ashamed to be a member here.

15. Since when?
When did dragging out old Presidents become a fundraising gesture?

This is a new invention, and do you honestly think people give money to disaster recovery efforts because two old Presidents show up?

Come on. It's nothing but a very successful exercise in pre-empting the Democrats in every possible way, in terms of public relations, and all I can say is, "Take another bow, Karl Rove."

21.  How much did they raise for the Tsunami? Bill has raised a lot for AIDS.
There is a precedent for this- however recent...

Look, I hear ya, but I think some of this criticism of Bill & Sr. doing charity work is misplaced.

30. That's his private foundation
Clinton took up the problem of AIDS in Africa - not the USA, I note - as part of the work of his private foundation, much as Jimmy Carter went to work for Habitat.

They're not fundraising - they're diversions from how badly Fuckface is handling every damn thing that defines our once-great country. Clinton's letting himself be used as a tool. That's all.

Yeah, people see Clinton and old man Bush and say, "Damn, I gotta give them some money!"

Right.

There's this thing we used to do in this country to raise money. They called it "taxation". Suggest you call your elected representatives.

13. No sense living in shame. Do something about it.
Meantime, fuck both of these people. The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT should be getting a big fat checkbook out and they should write the first check for about a trillion dollars. And if they need more, then the government needs to write another. Can't afford it? Raise taxes on the motherfuckers who have gotten such a huge tax cut, no, series of tax cuts.

I'll give to victims until it hurts, but I'll be goddamned if I'm going to give money to a couple of guys WHORING for George W Bush so that he can have my money and spend it how he sees fit.

Take your indignation to someone who hasn't seen the fucking horror caused by this utter failure of an administration.

18. I'm not defending or criticising anyone- but do the Feds HAVE any money?
Seriously? I think Bush blew it all in iraq and with tax cuts. They are hiding a lot from us.

Donors and the private sector may be the only turnips we can squeeze blood from at this point.

I agree that Fed dollars are needed- but i have no problem with Bill & Sr. appealing for more $$$.

and they were the tsunami fundraising couple.

I'm not for letting Bush off the hook on a damn thing- but for just a day or two, perhaps we should concentrate on helping out.

I'm currently working with the Salvation Army- I dont even know why I'm freaking DUing right now.

31. exactly how I feel
I fully expected clinton to appeal for immediate help for the folks needing food and water. He demured to his new master's plan saying it was working great and "who could have predicted?"

WTF was I thinking???
