You ROCK, Anderson Cooper!
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 06:21 PM by LSparkle
He's giving it to Mary Landrieu about thanking IdiotSon and company for all of their "help"! GOOD FOR HIM! He's trying to express some of the outrage that's out there, instead of just "going along".

and he said you know a lot of people don't want to listen to politicians thanking each other right now - they want to know where the help is - there was a dead woman on the streets here for 48 hours and rats were eating her, that's how bad it is - where is the help?

28. Here's the way it played out...
Sen. Mary Landrieu being interviewed by Anderson Cooper. His first question was, "Should the federal government bear the blame of what's going wrong here?

Landrieu: Anderson, there will be time for blaming and analyzing later, but right now I just want to thank former presidents Bush and Clinton for their strong words of support. I also want to thank Senators Frist and Reid, who have organized an historic session of congress tonight to approve an aid package. Have you heard about that, Anderson? It's not been getting reported.

Cooper: Uhh, no, Senator, I haven't heard about it, because honestly, I'm down here looking at dead bodies, I've been looking at dead bodies for over 24 hours, and dealing with stench and desperation, and honestly, it cuts people the wrong way to hear politicians thanking each other instead of coming down here and doing something. There was a woman's dead body eaten by rats. Do you understand the anger out here?"

His voice was shaking, he was almost in tears. Incredibly angry.

He's telling it like it is...

Mary is a fucking idiot. "I want to thank the president. He will be here tomorrow, I think... It is not just New Orleans... Nobody's perfect Anderson." What a bitch.

Anderson rocks. Period.

30. Rock on Anderson! You know, it's partially her fault...
She can't afford to attack *. She sat there without manning the battle stations and organizing an outrage over the neglect of NOLA over the past three years. She should have been doing back flips. And she had a week prior to the hit to make sure things were in place; and she's had a five days after the hit to make sure things were being done.

She was and is a lousy Senator and she just can't afford to go after Bush because then she looks bad.

I have to say that both Landrieu and Gov. Blanco both betrayed a deep racism in reacting to the looting. Landrieu blustered about it and, get this, Blanco called off rescue operations personnel to stop the looting. I think she'd due some time in jail for that

39. Anderson Cooper's outrage was the only thing holding back his tears.
For once, some of the media is speaking from the heart as human beings. Anderson Cooper and others--Brian Williams and Martin Savidge among them--have been damn near heroic. They have taken the fence pole out of their ass that a member of the so-called "objective" corporate media is supposed to permanently sit on. They have ventured way off the corporate script to go after the bush admin on this (and not the "looters").

Start packing the bags, bush. You're fucking finished.

Mary L-blah, blah, perhaps you haven't heard congress 10 billion supplemental

Anderson-excuse me senator, I haven't heard because for the last 4 days I have been seeing dead bodies in the streets in MS and to hear politicians thanking each other and complimenting each other, I gotta tell you there are a lot of people very upset, very angry and frustrated and it cuts the wrong way. Literally there has been a dead body laying in the street being eaten by rats... because this woman has been laying it the streets for 48 hrs and there are not enough facilities to take her up to. You get the anger that's out here?! Well who are you angry at?

Mary-I holding my anger inside.... (ass kissing B.S. to get help) blah blah

Anderson-There are a lot of people here who are kinda ashamed of what is happening in this country right now, ashamed of what is happening in you state certainly & this is not to blame the people who are there it's a desperate situation.

No One seems to be taking responsibility. You say there's a time & place for kinda looking back but this seems to be the time & place. There are people who want answers and there are people who want someone to stand up and say
"You know what? We should have done more."
Are all the assets brought to bear?

Mary-Andersons......

Anderson-for the 1st time I'm seeing National Guards Troups.....

49. Here's the link to contact CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form1.html?35

Let them know you loved what you saw, and you want more of it. Here's my e-mail I just sent:

Thank you, Anderson Cooper!

I'm a progressive who stopped watching the news channels last summer. I found them all to be empty of content and purpose, having abandoned the traditional role of government watchdog. Instead of speaking truth to power, the media has become apologists for power.

I turned the television back on when I realized on Sunday the impending disaster in New Orleans. Your coverage has been excellent throughout. And imagine my surprise at hearing Anderson Cooper tonight speaking on behalf of the people in such desperate need, and speaking not in coporate newsspeak but in plainspoken outrage at the federal government.

I hope this is not an aberration, but a foreshadowing of the kind of journalism we can expect from now on. CNN can be a great force for good in America, but only if they have the nerve to ask the question why, and have the nerve to get the answer.

Thank you.
