31. Yes, he told that to Sen. Landrieu a few minutes ago
She was thanking the Senate for tonight's session regarding FEMA and he came unglued at her. He told her he saw a body being eaten by rats so it was no time for senators to be back slapping and thanking each other. I hope Crooks and Liars has a video later.

13. I've always thought he was basically a good guy.
Even though he was a rich kid, he's had bad shit happen to him too. His brother committed suicide and he's done special reports on depression because of that.

There's still a bit of "frat boy" that comes out strong while he's blowing in the wind ... but I have to admit I can recall being younger and thinking that might be fun.

think about the anchors back in the studios, watching hour after hour of raw tapes, seeing things too awful to show us, and flashing back to their own experiences. Plenty o' nightmares to go around, these days.

54. I'm kind of worried about Jeanne Meserve
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 07:48 PM by Lisa
I didn't see her on the morning lineup for CNN today. She was their correspondent at the Superdome earlier in the week, and then she was following the rescue crews. She almost cried when she described what it was like, hearing the pleas for help from the rooftops, when the understaffed rescue boats had to cease operations because it was too dark and too dangerous. I hope she is okay (I'm sure that all the media people have been trying to function in unsafe conditions without food and sleep).

I've heard that reporters have been punished in the past, for showing emotion on air.

and there were those who slammed him for it. I also saw Rather tear up when the little girl who was trapped in the well in Texas years ago was brought out and when JFK, Jr died.

Given some of the things reporters see, it's surprising they don't breakdown more often.

Before Katrina hit I was annoyed by some of his coverage. Especially his fixation on the buoy in the water but now his coverage has become more than a puff piece. Finally a reporter is willing to ask serious questions.

52. Just posted this in the thread above. So good you need to hear it .
Mary L-(not word for word too much BS)
She's going on and on thanking Bush and 41 & 42
-blah, blah, perhaps you haven't heard congress 10 billion supplemental...

Anderson-Excuse me Senator, I haven't heard because for the last 4 days I have been seeing dead bodies in the streets in MS and to hear politicians thanking each other and complimenting each other, I gotta tell you there are a lot of people very upset, very angry and frustrated and it cuts the wrong way. Literally there has been a dead body laying in the street being eaten by rats... because this woman has been laying it the streets for 48 hrs and there are not enough facilities to take her up to. You get the anger that's out here?! Well who are you angry at?

Mary-I holding my anger inside.... (ass kissing B.S. to get help) blah blah....

Anderson-There are a lot of people here who are kinda ashamed of what is happening in this country right now, ashamed of what is happening in you state certainly & this is not to blame the people who are there it's a desperate situation.

No One seems to be taking responsibility. You say there's a time & place for kinda looking back but this seems to be the time & place. There are people who want answers and there are people who want someone to stand up and say
"You know what? We should have done more."
Are all the assets brought to bear?

Mary-Andersons......

Anderson-for the 1st time I'm seeing National Guards Troups.....
