Would Richard Perle know Mrs. Wilson's CIA status?

Apparently there is some suspicion that Richard Perle told Cliff May about Valerie Plame's CIA connection.

My question: would Perle have that information? We know he gets top secret info, and we know he has tentacles everywhere.

May wrote: "On July 14, Robert Novak wrote a column in the Post and other newspapers naming Mr. Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, as a CIA operative.

From what we've already heard so far, it sounds like the Bush White House has very lax security procedures.

These guys are so arrogant, it wouldn't surprise me if they just didn't pay any mind to security compartmentalization procedures in regards to handling classified info.
