Can the senate just PLEASE affirm Leavitt to the EPA?
I'm a Utahn and have watched for the past 10 years as our governor RAPED the great land that has made up our state. So why now would I ask the senate to affirm Leavitt to the EPA? It's simple, if they don't he'll come back to Utah and run for a 4th term. We will get stuck with that fuck for four more years. IF Leavitt becomes head of the EPA, he'll only have a year at the helm. I solidly because Bush will not win a second term and thus Leavitt will not have a job. Since we already would have held the 2004 election, he couldn't run for a 4th term. Hell, we might even get a Democrat elected here in Utah.

I say, LET the fuck in for a year, watch him closely, and in January of 2005 - kick his ass to the curb.

2. No.
Read what I said. He'll only have one year as head of the EPA - if he doesn't get affirmed he'll have four more years as governor of Utah. To me, the trade off is only fair. I doubt he could do much harm in one year, and I truly believe that is a risk all liberal Utahns are will to take.

3. Yeah but.....
If he goes back to Utah he'll be there for 4 more years. Even if he only heads the EPA for 1 year (problematical) that would be the equivalent of FIFTY state-years.

Sorry mate, Utah can keep him. Convince your neighbors to clean up their own messes and not export em to Washington. Please.

6. Read what NewJerseyDem said below.
Doesn't matter who is head of the EPA - Bush will continue to get his way.

4. H***, the Bush administration does tremendous damage OVERNIGHT.
It's been a total nightmare. Every morning I wake up and find out that the labor standards for overtime have been attacked, that another right-wing wacko who hates civil rights has been nominated as a judge, our public lands will be invaded by oil and gas companies...

I would gladly contribute toward a recall effort, because I feel for you, but please keep him there.

5. He could last more than a year
What if Bush is reelected? Then he could be there for over 5 years. However, it doesn't really matter who the head of the EPA is. Whitman really was pretty good on environmental policy but all the orders came from the White House. There really isn't any reason that he wouldn't be confirmed if you just look at his record but the whole 9/11 thing with the EPA is holding him up.
