What are the realistic estimates of death toll?
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 10:10 PM by BayCityProgressive
What are most experts saying of the death toll in the South? I can't imagine it will stay low with the mass destruction we have seen. This is truly the most horrible thing I have ever seen in my life.

5. My guess: 10,00-50,000. I think it was the Red Cross on Sunday who
estimated there would be 40,000-60,000 dead if the hurricane caused New Orleans to flood. And that estimate didn't even take into account the criminal lack of response of the bush admin.

went to their attics and many didn't have an ax so i think you can get a mental picture of what the toll might be headed near. Those people won't be found for weeks i imagine or maybe months.

9. it will likely top 50,000 . . . maybe substantially . . .
and we'll never know the real count, because many bodies will never be found or accounted for (washed out to sea, etc.) . . .
