1/2 million was the population of just New Orleans before Katrina. Soon it will have a population of zero.

The refugees will be the story for the next year. This is going to be hugely divisive for our country.

2. Way more than that.
No one else in the affected area is being let back in the meantime either. So, that's all of the surrounding parishes, plus the people in MS who are now homeless.
