11. I've got Headline Prime on in the background
They were doing a story about how it was inevitable, how the levees were failing, yada, yada, blah-ble-bleh. I decided to watch it, waiting to be outraged by the usual apology and blame-the-victim crap.

And then...

"Funding set aside under the Clinton administration was cut by Bush."

Ho-lee Shit. I almost fell off my chair.

3. Miles said this morning
that they WERE going to be doing that story ... after being told by a politician now was not the time to be fixing responsibility.

He was grim. It was a promise, not a threat. CNN has actually been mentioning this all day. Good on 'em.

4. Just as a reality check.......
the work should have started about 20 years ago said an Army Corp. of Engineer Officer interviewed by Jerry Springer today, but the point remains....Bu$Hco robbed the money to pay for the war.

5. Dude
I'm as cynical as they come these days. I'm not even above mocking the frequent "tide is turning" and the like posts.

But I'll be damned if that piece of info getting play on the cable news when so many people are glued to this coverage isn't a nail in Bush's coffin.

8. I saw a CNN guy go no a tirade ...

He said he had been at every disaster for the last 30 years and this is the most belated incompetent response he had EVER seen.

Democrats cannot pull punches, the righties are already starting to blame the disaster on Democrats. Let the truth be told as to who did what and who was eating cake instead of doing his job.

If Bush wanted to be a "big boy" and do it all by himself, he should have cut his vacation short when it was clear that the gulf states would be hit hard. He should have been on the phone and mobilizing 5000 troops to go in IMMEDIATELY after the storm had cleared.

Most of all, he should have coordinated with the mayor of New Orleans and given them the help EARLY to plug the leaks in the levees before they widened and became impossible to plug.

9. If they can cut funding for school lunches, Medicare, Food Stamps,
Childhood Immunizations, Farm Subsidies; just to make up for the 'Tax Cuts", why should anyone be surprised that funding for many parts of the infrastucture, such as roads, bridges, tunnels and levees etc be cut to the bone as well?

FEMA is broke, many other institutions that rely on funding from the Gov't as well as private entities are broke, but the enormously rich are happy, they have $ and they can't risk their investments to help out fellow citizens....:grr:

10. Had to have tax cuts for rich friends...levee not important as Iraq war is
60 million was requested....10 million was appropriated to bring levee up to safety standards.

Sure they will discuss it later...they will say, "It's over now, so no sense in rehashing it."

15. Roll back those tax cuts now
for his rich friends. We need that money ~ finally maybe, some of those who refused to acknowledge that cutting taxes for the rich would leave the states with no money for important programs.
