CINDY SHEEHAN ASKS: Adopt a Family in Houston
From Crooks and Liars:

I just received an urgent call to get this message out from the Cindy Sheehan camp. Anyone in distance of the Houston Astrodome get over there and adopt a family if you can. It's a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions. They need your help. The call is out. Let's do something to help these families.

3. anyone can adopt a family in any state, check here:
http://neworleans.craigslist.org/roo/

just post that you would be willing to help them get to where you are.

I posted an ad earlier. I don't know where I would put anyone, but fuck, I have a roof and water and food and God's word that doing his will not be a curse, but a blessing. And if there is no God, it's still the right thing to do. I heard a victim on TV say yesterday, "If you help one person, you help the world"

Sending 25 bucks to RC is fine, but these people need more than that. They need longterm help.

Thousands of families are in immediate need of housing because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. This organization has been started to match those in need of housing with those that are willing to provide it. If you have room to share or need a place to stay please click one of the links below.

URGENT: Local volunteers are needed to help match families with homes. Please email info@shareyourhome.org if you can help.

<snip>

Volunteers are needed to help man the phone bank in Shreveport - call 888-827-2525 to volunteer. If you are calling from Shreveport, please call 318-636-4395 instead of the 800 number.

(this site is being managed from Baton Rouge Louisiana - please bear with us through any technical difficulties - our power and online access is still intermittent)
