3. Best news I've heard in this very bad week!
I'm a West Virginian, and I'm breathing a large sigh of relief. If Senator Byrd had decided to retire, his seat had a good chance of being taken over by Representative Shelley Moore Capito (R), daughter of a former governor of West Virginia who ended up in Federal prison for taking bribes.
