So they've been happy not to make waves. I've sat in amazement how they could all partake in the phoney baloney that was leaving our entire country vulnerable and at major risk. I have never, never seen anything like it. An NBC photojournalist (unfortunately I don't remember his name) spoke for ten minutes on the horrors he's witnessed at the convention center--pleading for help for these thousands of people who've been left totally abandoned. There are good souls in journalism out there, it's just that we don't often see it, and they don't often get the chance to express themselves.

I think the public outrage at this failure is just to great to cover up. I think ROve and Cheney controlled the media in several ways, but one was by spinning public opinion against anyone who criticized Bush. Rather, for instance. Or Cindy Sheehan.

But the public can see what happens here. They want pictures, they want to understand. And what they are seeing angers them. The media doesn't have to worry about the public turning on them on this one. When they see clips of journalists near tears at the suffering, or even of journalists trying to rescue people rather than simply watching them, the public supports the media. So the media is free to tell the truth.

Even the conservative journalists and reporters don't really like Bush. I've been saying for years that when the people finally turn on Bush, it will be sudden and irretrievable. Bush is like one of those 3-D paintings. You stare at him a long while, and he looks like one thing, though vague and unfocused. Something doesn't seem right, but you can't quite figure it out. Then suddenly, the painting shifts and the true image pops out at you, and no matter how hard you try, you can never go back to not seeing the real picture.
