Am I right in feeling ashamed of, and embarrased by, my own country now?
I can't believe this kind of inept and insufficient response to the hurricane catastrophe could happen in the U.S. - it seems like the kind of thing that might happen in a faraway land, and we would see it on the news for a couple of days then it would fade from memory. But here it is happening right here inside our own country. How must this look to the rest of the world?

2. It's why they don't want to give cash.
They know Bushler would do something bad with it, like fund more black ops to assassinate other countries' leaders. So they offer supplies and labor.

11. I recall him saying to 'send cash' the day he addressed
the world publicly about the situation. Funny. :eyes:

5. I'm beyond ashamed.
I will never forgive Bush for what he has done to this country, and I will never forgive Americans for permitting him to stage his coup and run this country into the ground in record time.

6. Feel ashamed of BushCo, and that they control our nation. But not
of our people. They are outraged at the lack of response. I don't know that they will turn that outrage against Bush, but at this point, I don't care. I just want that outrage to start things happening. And it looks like it has.

7. I've felt that way since December 12, 2000
But mostly it's about the idiots who said to me, "I really don't see much difference between Bush and Gore?"

And the 40% who still think he's doing a great job.

8. Tsunami comparison
I think about that and immediately the people, the local people, immediately set up local morgues. They didn't have any air conditioning and so forth either, but they did not just "walk over" the bodies
or put them in a corner. They helped each other and all of the men
went around collecting the dead.

There is no excuse to me that these people are not getting food and water, but there is also that difference as well.

American sits around and expects "officials" to come and take care of them...Tsunami the locals just started helping and pitching in.

The whole thing is horrifying although I've know this about America, it's still awful to seeing it front and center.

9. I don't know if it is right. but I feel the same way.
I want to do something. I have a home with two extra beds and a couch, but I live in Mich. What else can I do? If we drive down to help, the Feds will stop us. I don't have much cash but I have clean home and a freezer full of food to share.

10. Same here.
We don't have a lot of cash, either. Fortunately, my husband is employed, but I can't find work.

I have a whole upstairs empty since my kids grew up. I am in Illinois. I feel like I should be down there doing something, and bringing a family home with me.

12. I am disgusted.
I don't see how this fake president can stay in office after this. The detachment, the lack of concern. And then asking Americans to pony up. How about asking all the corporations that base offshore, don't pay taxes, and still get massive subsidies to cough up some relief money? And then I pray someone gets their ass into NO pronto to help these people. I'm an animal activist and I don't even dare think about those tragedies. The whole thing is a national disgrace. This is unforgivable. He must be impeached.
