daybreak, Day 5 . . . and there's STILL no help at the Convention Cntr. .
and that FEMA guy was on this morning lying through his teeth . . . "those people are being taken care of," or something to that effect . . . they are not . . .

and where are the 1400 National Guardsmen that were supposed to be on the streets by this morning? . . .

1. found this ~
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/342810p-292645c.html
~snips~
As we walked past the Windsor Court hotel, we were stopped by a female state trooper. "Y'all came over here without guns? Don't go there. Don't go there unless you have a machine gun around your neck. We pulled our troops out because the civilians have taken over. We don't have the manpower to deal with them," she said.

...

A little while later, we heard the thump-thump-thump of a helicopter and a Black Hawk dropped from the gray sky into the parking lot. The mob rushed the copter, swarming it before it even had a chance to land.

The soldiers inside opened the doors and pushed out cases of water and boxes of MREs - meals ready to eat. People pushed. People yelled. The old folks and kids grabbed what they could. The young men made out best, though some were willing to share their bounty. Others just kept what they had claimed and shouldered their way through the crowd.

~more~ read the whole story ... is this a reliable source?

3. I saw footage on the television
and it look to me they were hurring to unload and get the hell out. There were people at the helicopter but they were taking what was handed to them and passing it back through the crowd. I got the impression they were hoping they would hurry up and bring more.

4. The reporters seemed to go to the convention center with no problem.
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 05:55 AM by Skwmom
Furthermore, a photo journalist said that the people at the convention center were not a threat and that they were acting a heck of a lot better than the people in Miami had after Andrew (and they had a lot more help than the people at the convention center).

5. I saw film of that food and water drop yesterday afternoon . . .
one chopper unloaded a modest cargo and left . . . people AT the center are reporting that they STILL do not have food, water, or any way out . . . and the mayor of NO confirmed it in a very angry interview this morning . . .

6. I would believe it.
If nothing else, Ted Koppel forced Mike Brown of FEMA to admit that they had neglected the people at the convention center. It's very likely those people will now be receiving regular deliveries of food and water, even if the quantities are insufficient.

2. The busses were being used elsewhere
It looked to me like the busses that were supposed to pick people up at the dome were being used to pick up people that were at the refugee camp on the highway. I am not sure where that camp is but I did see lots of people walking around with water and empty water jugs all around. Has anyone else noticed this? I also noticed that most of the white people I have seen through this entire disaster were at the Astrodome in Houston.

8. I have no idea
but the only line of busses I have seen were at the camp by the highway not at the dome. I could be wrong but it looks like the people at the dome are being ignored and their help is getting redirected to this camp on the highway.
