Take a Lesson, America
Because the next city facing such a crisis just might be your own. Doesn't matter if it's an earthquake, hurricane, terrorist attack. You're on your own.

Stock up now. Make preparations. Purchase a gun and learn how to use it. Some day it will be your turn, your town, and we have a govt that either doesn't care or is totally incompetent. In the end, it doesn't matter whose fault it is when it comes to survival time.

Take a lesson, America.

FEMA won't protect you. Homeland Security won't protect you. The Patriot Act won't protect you. The President of the United States won't protect you. You gave them your money and your trust and it has all been revealed as nothing but smoke and mirrors. A game of political football to line the pockets of gladhanding private contractors, lobbyists, corporatists and family allies. The "have mores" will have even more and you and your family will have nothing.

Take a lesson, America.

1. Pay as you go
This is what you get for those $300.00 tax refunds: no government services, no matter how urgent the need.

6. Bushco's failure to use the people's taxes
(those, incidentally, with the least finances to pay them, in the first place), for the purposes for which they were intended, i.e. for their own mutual advantage and wellbeing, for the enhancement of the assets of the country at large, amounts to an unparalleled dereliction in the modern Western world; even in America, itself, with its already tawdry record of plutocratic racketeering, in recent years, apparently completely out of control.

Instead Bushco chose to siphon off the money from the public purse, into the pockets of their rich colleagues and cronies in the boardrooms of the giant corporations, thereby, in this catastrophe, alone, costing the lives, health, homes and livelihoods of innumerable citizen-voters and their children, is nothing less than criminal.

And then to have the absolute gall to turn away potentially life-saving foreign aid, which would mitigate the suffering of their victims... well, like so much of their behaviour, it completely beggars belief. "For food, they gave me poison...".

7. A poster here at DU wrote before Katrina hit "What good will it do to put
people in the super dome when in the end they will be isolated and surrounded by toxic flood waters." (paraphrasing)

Now if a poster here in DU can think of this why couldn't FEMA or Homeland Security?

Plans for most cities include a way for the rich, healthy and young to flee but what about the poor, weak and elderly? What happens if you suddenly become poor, weak or elderly at the wrong time? Will you be corralled into a massive stadium without, food, water, medical care or hygiene, then left for five days to suffer through? Will you be demonized by the press as "looters" when you break into a flooded store for food? Will you be labeled as just one of those crazies who choose to stay?

Here's to hoping you republicans never become one of those poor, sick or elderly.:toast:

Ya know, eventually even the rich will no longer have a new place to run.

Hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, terrorist attacks -- if we can't deal with these inevitable disasters, the US is going to be nothing more than a trail of smoking rubble from East to West.

10. Nominated. You are right on. absolutely. We're on our own. No
government of the people, by the people, for the people.

It's govt of private club.
