The USNS Comfort has not left yet!!!
CNN reports it will leave by midnight tonight and arrive on SEPTEMBER 8th!!!!!!!!!!

What the fuck?! It will be used for a morgue by then.

5. My Navy vet boyfriend says that a ship can get underway
in 4 hours in an emergency, they are trained for that. This is RIDICULOUS!

8. Actually, those ships can usually leave fairly quickly.....
So when the hurricane was a strong category 4 and obviously going to make landfall along the US gulf coast (perhaps the Bush admin thought it would jump off into space or something), the order should have been given for them to leave port and start making their way somewhere safe (like Key West) from the storm, but close enough to be in the disaster area within a day after the storm.
