Holy. Fucking. Shit.
Tens of thousands of people are counting on THIS goddam spluttering goofball to help them? He can't even complete sentences. We must...help the...helicopters and food...smurf buckle arglebloo...

Dude, I have no idea what you just said. Your lips were moving, but that was perhaps the finest strain of pure gibberish I have ever seen on my television. This one's for you, George:

Fat lot of good you do. You act like someone just stroked you one in the back of the head with a lead pipe.

Clinton got jumped on good and proper here yesterday, but I gotta tell you, I remember Bill after Oklahoma City. I remember a guy who could TALK and communicate INFORMATION and wrap the country in his arms.

Christ. *Now* I'm scared. This asshat is really an amazing piece of work.

Explosions Fill New Orleans Sky With Smoke...Washington Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/20...

Friday, September 2, 2005; 7:23 AM

NEW ORLEANS -- An explosion jolted residents awake early Friday, illuminating the pre-dawn sky with red and orange flames over the city where corpses rotted along flooded sidewalks and bands of armed thugs thwarted fitful rescue efforts.

Congress was rushing through a $10.5 billion aid package, the Pentagon promised 1,400 National Guardsmen a day to stop the looting and President Bush planned to visit the region. But city officials were seething with anger about what they called a slow federal response following the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina.

At 4:35 a.m. Friday, an explosion rocked a chemical storage facility near the Mississippi River east of the French Quarter, said Lt. Michael Francis of the Harbor Police. A series of smaller blasts followed and then acrid, black smoke that could be seen even in the dark. The vibrations were felt all the way downtown.

"They have M-16s and they're locked and loaded," she said. "These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so, and I expect they will."

111. "I don't think he caused the hurricane..."
Global warming scientists have been predicting these kinds of impacts for some time now--more extreme storms, flooding of coastal areas. Bush's failure to join with all the other countries of the world in the Kyoto Treaty, to address the causes of global warming, and his doing the bidding of the polluters and natural resource profiteers, may well have a relationship to this hurricane happening (and so many other hurricanes in this region and other global impacts--such as the melting of the polar ice caps) and to New Orleans' and other regions' lack of preparedness for such events.

I was thinking of another issue yesterday. Someone on AAR was saying that the president should place an emergency cap on oil prices. He absolutely should--if he gave a damn about our country or its people. Oil company price gouging is equivalent to looting. The Bush regime's policy is to shoot poor people who are without recourse and are stealing food and water, and others who are just petty robbers, in a situation of pre-planned chaos (much like Baghdad) but to let the oil companies steal billions of dollars in jacked up gas prices, at a time when the people and their government are going bankrupt. The actions of the oil companies are unconscionable, and any president with even a shred of decency would reign them in.

I guess this is what comes of Diebold and ES&S selecting our leaders.

Take care of your family and yourself. :grouphug:

My in-laws have their homes-no electricity or phone and tree damage but no flooding by some miracle. They are in Lacombe, west of Slidell. My neice's in-laws are w/ her in KY. They live in Slidell and may not have a home to go home to.

Mr. CB is NO native and grew up in Slidell. I had family (now passed on) who lived in Orange Beach, AL, Mobile and NO too! I'm glad they're not here to see this disaster. We are heartsick. We love NO. We were supposed to travel there this weekend.

W, Chertoff, Brown, the whole gang have had days to come up with a strong posture of control and a plan to recover. Instead they've come out of the blocks blaming the victims and playing dumb to the possibility of just this sort of event in NOLA. They're not even pretending to be in charge.

139. I don't think Will gets it, Princess...
I see he still hasn't responded to this most simple and expedient answer you've offered; perhaps he's mulling it over... but I find it strange he hasn't at least concurred that you JUST MAY HAVE AN IDEA THERE...

Part of the problem for so many of you, the reason you continually post WTF!s over and over again, is cuz you don't wanna look at the plain simple evidence before your eyes that you are dealing with a cabal of soulless conscienceless killers intent on world domination, EVEN at the price of the DESTRUCTION of the prize. Will's SURE that the mayor's not part of some conspiracy... well, you wouldn't HAVE to be part of a conspiracy to be mowed down by it, would you?
THIS is how conspiracies work: KEY people in KEY positions of REAL POWER pull the strings. From the TOP down, the mayor is ADVISED that he NEEDS troops, so he asks for them. The troops (ALSO NOT PART of the conspiracy) are given orders to shoot at the water until it goes away, and are told that if anyone gets in the way, they are TERRARISTS, COMMUNISTS and other assorted muckabillies... being 'good' troops, they do their duty and obey orders; later on, they are court-martialed and hung out to dry, literally and figuratively, for doing so. They don't get to tell their side to the press, who wouldn't report it if they did... because the press is one of the most important elements of the conspiracy; there are MANY MANY key players in positions of power there, though they are ultimately mere well-paid lackeys to the greater overlords in the Grand Game.

I'm GLAD that Will has FINALLY come to the realization that W is not REALLY President Evil:

but simply a puppet whose head is filled with sawdust--when it's not being used to smuggle black-market diamonds into Houston...

Yes, Butch IS retarded. Makes him the PERFECT puppet, actually...
...but Pitt is apparently still missing the important point that there ARE people of REAL intelligence, limited though it may be, who STAND BEHIND THE PUPPET and make it dance.
And who's behind Cheney? Why, Pappy Bush, of course...
And who's behind him? Others much like him; other old-money landed aristocracy, both here and abroad, who have been playing this game not for centuries but millennia...
Actually, if you ask me, so MANY of you are coming to this realization VERY VERY LATE in the game...
The time for victory seems long-past to me now; when Americans stood down and let this PESTILENCE be installed in the White House--and not once, but TWICE--I knew we were well and truly fucked.
We have forgotten our own history. We have forgotten what a general strike is. We have forgotten how to fight to defend our freedoms. We are waiting for a hero... but we HAD one in Clinton, and we let them sell his ass down the river, we stood by and watched them beat him to a PULP, and they're still doing it, and we're still standing by and watching it, but now it's just the abuse of a corpse...
Go home, America. Go home and kiss your wife and love your children and know that it's all just about over now, and that you're actually LUCKY that this is the case.
What value survival, in this hideous paranoid insane backwards-sliding future? What old glories can be regained from this chaos?
It was all empty and meaningless from the beginning... and we as a people have PROVEN that we are not fit to be free; we are fit only to be meat for the endless meat-rendering machine that is American culture in all its depraved, deluded, narcissistic, selfish, stupid, self-limiting, bone-headed wonder.
Listen, don't listen to me. I'm ranting. I'm mad, I tell you... quite, quite mad.
I am UTTERLY POWERLESS to effect the drama in any way; I can see clearly what is happening, but I might just as well be watching a made-for-tv movie.
And I can't even switch it off.
As I said in a pm to a friend with family on the line down there:
...unlike Butch, I have absolutely no power, nothing to share with anyone except the contents of mmy brain... this is insanely frustrating to me, this sense off utter powerlessness and uselessness... I just hope you know that I've been VERY concerned for you since I first heard of this, and wish I could do something to help...
If I had money, I'd try to get down there myself...
I hope you're well. I hope your mom laid up some good supplies.
Goddamn this evil fucking cabal of lunatics. God damn them.
d

ps: I can't believe the stupidity of Americans... I just can't believe it...
When Butch first took office, eveyrone should have gone on an immense general strike: DON'T go to work, DON'T do anything but go out into the streets and start overturning anything not nailed down.
That's what the French would've done... and we call THEM cowards?
If you ask me, it's looking more and more as if we truly got the government we DESERVE.

84. It shouldn't be an either or situation
But the only response they are getting are armed troops. They are not getting the most important component of the response which is food and water.

Yesterday Armored Vehicles rolled into the Superdome site. Did they bring water trucks and Porto-potties? No all they brought were guns and then stood there guarding the people. A few troops handed out water. They did not need 100's of guys lined up doing nothing but looking mean.

They could post armed guards at key vantage points to watch the crowd and the rest of those troops should have been getting people feed and ready for evacuation. They could have filled those buses in a half hour if they had sorted the people out ahead of time. Instead they waited for the buses to come and took hours figuring out who could go on which bus.

95. They knew this was coming....
Bush even declared it a disaster area BEFORE the damned hurricane hit land. Why wasn't there choppers FULL of food and water sitting on a tarmac somewhere in Dallas, Houston, etc. just waiting for the order, as soon as the storm was over to start shipping, dropping supplies in?

Better yet, why didn't they get those people evacuated BEFORE the storm hit? It would have been a hell of a lot easier to do it then, than it is now.

We need LEADERSHIP in this country to start paying attention to things before they happen, and start planning for response.

* said, after 9/11, "if I had had any idea that they were going to fly airplanes into buildings, I would have moved heaven and earth to try to prevent it."

Well, * DID KNOW about Katrina beforehand (and, yes, I know he knew about 9/11, or at least the possibility of it beforehand, I'm making a point here)--why wasn't he "moving heaven and earth" to prevent this human suffering? He is WORTHLESS as a leader--I wouldn't hire him to take out my damned garbage.

asking for troops is his last resort. No one else has come.

I was referring to the BushCo response to the disaster. Did you know that yesterday they announced that the PENTAGON had taken over running the response? All Rummie and his dickheads know about is guns. Before we sent all the National Guard to Iraq they would have gone in with food and water. You rarely saw armed guardsmen in a disaster. Now we have this heavy military presense and no food and water. Soon Rummie will be planning bombing runs over NO to get things under control. Just like Fallujah.

i was thinking this morning, and contribution grows here in amarillo, and thinking how we the people did, because of govt incompetence. their job is to get the people out. we are friggin takin care of the job once people are pulled out. all that is being asked of govt now, is save lives

and again they fail

shit for brains has a new stupid pet trick he does, a sort of jaw rocking every 30 seconds or so.. been doing it in the last 3 speeches..

if you go to http://www.cnn.com you can watch..

Looks like he got his with a brick and needed to respond with a can of Chef boy R Dee Ravioli..

luv the bunny, between that visual and Bush's verbal nonsense I feel like I'm having an acid flashback :)

Was more along the lines of you could see that Bush was a bumbling idiot way back then. I was always fearful of a major disaster under him or that he might start WW3. He probably would have if he went into Iran. I think with Katrina now, that will not be happening.

101. You are someone that I trust that can wrap their head around this
and remain sane. I, however, lost my sanity sometime on Sunday--I think when they were putting people INTO the Superdome, however, I digress.
As citizens of the US...what is the logical next step in this for us to do?
They won't let us close to New Orleans. Somehow...giving money and clothing just aren't cutting it.
What is the next step?

117. Well, yes, that IS the problem. We have a twice unelected idiot, puppet
of the war and oil profiteers, holding all of the authority in this situation, having bled FEMA dry for their war and having sent half of our National Guard to Iraq, and not giving a crap about the poor (permitting the idiot to attend a posh Republican fundraiser while our citizens are dying for lack of water and food!). (--fits their general message, I guess.) WHAT DO WE DO?

Throw Diebold and ES&S election theft machines into the levee, that's what! (i.e., 'Boston Harbor'). Our powerlessness--our disenfranchisement--has a direct cause: SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code in voting machines and tabulators controlled by Bushite companies. That's WHY we have this president. And it IS fixable--if we act now, while we still have state/local power over election systems.

The bad guys are not waiting. They don't give a crap about New Orleans or its dying people. They are acting even now to spread these election theft machines to more areas. In early August, they held a hogfest at the Beverly Hilton in Hollywood--a week of fun, sun and lavish lobbying for election officials from around the country, sponsored by Diebold, ES&S and Sequoia election theft companies. (Diebold = CEO was Bush/Cheney campaign chair in Ohio. ES&S = funded by far rightwing billionaires. Sequoia = hired Repub former CA Sec of State Bill and Jones and his chief aide Alfie Charles to push their systems).

Really and truly, this is something we can do--and must do for the long term. Get rid of these voting-stealing machines!

In this powerless state, in which the government is no longer responsive to the will of the majority, there is not much we CAN do about the suffering in the Gulf coast, other than the obvious. Donate to the Red Cross and other nonprofits. Volunteer at Red Cross centers. And help prepare shelters and homes for the displaced. (For instance, find out what's needed--tents, clothes, food, toys, whatever--and where it needs to go, and help get it there.) And, if you know someone who is stuck in a disaster area, and can think of a way to get them out, do so. Try backchannels--ham radio operators, etc. Nola.com has a blog for each area in the NO region, helping people find each other, and reporting on conditions in given areas (from people on the ground). See the "Inside NOLA view" on the right side of the page: http://www.nola.com/weblogs/nola/

Also, pressure Congress on the aid bill, demand a Congressional investigation, and take other political action to force long and short term assistance, and to hold the Bush regime accountable.

140. Was Bush chewing gum during his photo ops?
did that help reduce the rate of that bizarre junky-jaw movement of his?

Did they shove a wad of cud in his mouth to purposely mask that strange jaw tic?

I'm asking because I was only half conscious and drifted off to sleep after being up all night--watching news and DU--when President Death appeared on the screen, trying real hard to look interested in all the things the white professional were telling him.

On top of everything else, he must have untreated ADD.
