What can WE do?

Look, I love to rant and rave as much as anyone else around here and we definitely need for the Bush Administration to abdecate power as soon as possible but in the meantime we don't have a government. So what can we do?

Hurricanes and flood are survivable events. We have hurricanes and floods in this country on a regular basis. We know to cope with the aftermath. We've done it before, we can do it now. We have to. We really have no choice.

So the first thing we need to do is to calm down and get a grip. It's not the end of the world.

DU is one of the best places available right now for brainstorming, organizing and taking action. So let's start sticking our heads together and focus on getting people the help they need. This isn't rocket science. Shelter, food and water are not that difficult. They set up the Astrodome in one day. Yet five days later they still can't bring water to the Superdome. Come on folks, forget about Bush for the moment. We can and must do better.

1. Did you hear about the guy who stole a school bus?

And drove a load of people to shelter? If he is prosecuted, there will be hell to pay.

There must be bus companies that can be tapped for transport; sporting goods companies who can be tapped for tents and camping supplies; trucking companies that would haul the goods.

It doesn't take much to do better than the admin, that's for sure.
