Will the wealthy backers of Bush be held accountable eventually?
If Bush is eventually removed through impeachment or limping to the end of his term and we get a democratic majority or better yet, some new progessive coalition, will those who engineered Bush's rise and protected him from criticism like network owners be held accountable?

One thing that is striking to me reading history is that Prescott Bush could do business with the Nazis during the war and hide their assets after, and only be fined and allowed to continue as a senator.

As far as I know, the businessmen who planned the coup against FDR they approached Smedley Butler about were not punished in any way.

Like the "forgive and forget" attitude Democrats had after Watergate, Iran-Contra, and the Clinton impeachment, instead of playing nice the backers of the far right saw forgiveness as weakness and came back at us more furiously, undemocratically, and effectively.

I hope that someday we have a Congress and judicial system that looks into and punishes these crimes against democracy with the seriousness and urgency they deserve.

5. A real attempt to repair it would be Soviet-style denazification
And it would arrest and seize the assets of persons like Scaife et al. This is not very likely to happen.
