Just to create fire breaks. Nobody'll be left alive in the city, anyway.

12. Hell, I have beter intel than FEMA And I'm in Fargo, ND
I'm waiting to hear back from one of my Senator's Legislative
Director, to find out what committees have jurisdictional and appropriations oversight over FEMA.

Then I'm going to find the Democratid staff director and find out when Brown, et al will be dragged before Congress and made to answer for their criminal inneptitude.

14. You know, I'm tempted to believe it is deliberate.
For years, this administration has been pushing the idea that we can't depend on the government, that everything the government does should be handled by the states and by faith-based organizations.

Is this just further proof? An opportunity for them to prove that Washington is bad for America?

Why does FEMA and DHS not have stockpiles of food, water, medicines, generators, stashed at critical points across the country, ready to be airlifted or trucked into disaster areas at short notice? This was not unexpected, nor is The Big One unexpected in California - can you imagine LA in the aftermath of a 8.5 quake? We now know that they are completely unprepared to deal with it.

I should think that DHS would have people sitting around doing nothing but thinking up scenarios and contingency plans for those scenarios. Effective disaster relief does not come after the disaster, but in the planning for that disaster. When the city is on fire is not the time to think about buying a fire engine.

So what have they been doing for the past four years?

16. Well where are the Baptists then ???

Surely they should be mounting an impressive rescue operation. Or at least they could bring along some spare clan robes so they can baptize people in the stinking polluted flood waters.

17. an observation
I work for a car rental company and we also work closely with FEMA to provide rental cars when they have to respond to a catastrophe like this. Usually when something like this happens, I (personally) make reservations for several rentals for FEMA.

Since word of this hurricane first developed last weekend, I haven't taken a single call from FEMA.
