If this were an election year, would Bush have responded quicker?
I lived thru the difficult hurricane season in Florida last year (2004) and I can say that, comparing all of that to the current SNAFU in NO, we had it pretty good. The gov. seemed to have got itself in gear much quicker back then. Of course, in 2004 Bush was facing re-election and Florida (and Ohio) were swing states. Not counting the fact that votes were routinely discarded and ignored, Bush went to great lengths to 'get out the vote' in Florida.

When I realize that most all of the hurricane victims in NO are poor and black, and they wouldn't be voting for Bush even if it was an election year, then I can begin to grasp this dismal gov. response to this disaster, which IMHO is on the level of 9-11, yes, this is starting to make sense. There is a method to their madness. The Bush oligarchy simply doesn't care about helping the poor, they have never cared about the poor, much less cared about the poor who are innocent victims of a catastrophic natural disaster, and even less so when there is no longer an election of deal with.

4. Absolutely!
But now he doesn't care about re-election since he either can't be re-elected again (according to law) or won't need to be re-elected again (according to the New Shrub Constitution).

The NO disaster only HELPS him and his friends financially; it will hurt him politically, for sure, but they don't care about that any more. They now have carte blanche to serve only themselves.

And that's what they're doing.

7. prob. not for New Orleans
after all, he doesn't care about the urban or minority vote too much. but i'm sure he'd be doing all he could for the rest of the gulf coast - especially the oil producers

8. He didn't respond quickly for 9/11 and he still had to run for
reelection.

Probably doesn't even give a shit. No, he would have done the same thing and just spun it afterwards like 9/11.

9. Is the Pope German?
He views this whole incident as an inconvenience. These people aren't his base.

The oil companies will see more record profits as they gouge prices. That's his base.

He will have blood on his hands for this. IMPEACH!
