This administration's unique blend of incompetence and wrong-headed policy making has left any number of ticking time bombs spread throughout the US and the world. They've been tagged with just two of them, big ones for sure, in the last five years, Katrina and 9/11.
THERE ARE MANY MORE:
Education policy is a slow motion disaster that will eventually catch up to us. Marginalization and demonization of academics dampens national education.
Barely dodged one last year with lack of flu vaccine
Head in the sand approach to global warming (could be the biggest of them all!)
Didn't dodge one in San Diego when Bush denied help for forest fires
Lack of protection for ports and chemical plants
Foreign policy based on domination and arrogance that may leave us alone in the world with many, many enemies
Easing of pollution standards (esp mercury) could be a disaster that we really never see coming and can't get a handle on...
MTBE in groundwater is now the responsibility of the government to clean up...won't happen
Let's not forget Iraq, which will haunt the US for generations...
Pillaging of our national forests and protected areas may not be called a national disaster but it is a national disgrace that lowers us as a country
Policies that concentrate wealth at the top and abandon the middle and lower classes will lead to an upside-down America that will suffer before having to make radical changes
African aid is certainly a disaster...an unbelievable one that our kids and grandkids will look back on and wonder how we could have not helped when there was still time
Extreme polarization between groups of people (deliberately concocted for political manipulation) dampens discourse and does not allow us as a nation to discuss and resolve problems....we are dysfunctional and can't right wrongs of those in power.
We could go on for days listing how this administration has raped our country and stolen national treasures and our well-being for profit and power. EVERY POLICY AREA HAS A KATRINA WAITING TO HAPPEN because of this administration's lack of belief in government, incompetence, putting lobbyists and corporatists in charge of government, radical ideology, cronyism, corruption, arrogance, greed, and lack of humanity.
I ask anyone: For what policy area are we headed in the right direction? And if you are headed in the wrong direction in every policy area, do you not eventually run into a disaster?
This is not like every other administration at all, as some people want to say: "there's always been corruption and incompetence". Not so. This is different. We made a HUGE mistake in 2000 and 2004 putting into office the worst possible administration: inhuman, incompetent criminals that should not be in office one more day.
