MSNBC now running a screen clock
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 11:29 AM by Neecy
Keeping tab of how long it's been since the hurricane made landfall (now at 4 days 5:19)

Shocking. This really illustrates how long it's been since this happened, and highlights the negligence in dealing with it. I wonder how long it'll be before GE makes them take it down.

1. I'm sure the honchos at GE have family and friends affected by
the incompetence of this administration, too. The worm hasn't turned. It's gotten up and walked out the door.

2. So how many people did FEMA and Bush let die so far?
A few Chinook Helo drops of mostly water and food could have saved hundreds.

3. The only accountability thus far - the clock is so appropriate.
4 days for supplies to begin to arrive and for the national guard to get called in.

4. Wow!, that *is* startling. Kinda like the "Iran hostages held..." clock..
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 12:28 PM by krkaufman
... that haunted Jimmy Carter's presidency. (edit: Of course, the Iran hostage crisis *wasn't* of Jimmy Carter's making)

I've been wanting one of the news channels to include one or both of the following clocks, as well:

- Days Osama uncaptured since 9/11
- Days since start of Iraq war (maybe doing this one as a bar graph along with bars for other wars, so as to compare this debacle to the length of other conflicts)

6. Remember when . . .
Rush Limbaugh had that graphic that said " ... days of captivity" with Bill and Hillary's pictures. I have often thought we need something like that to show how many days Bush has been president because that is truly how I feel, like a prisoner in my own country. Our rights are being eroded on a daily basis by this administration and it seems he doesn't care about the basic needs of the citizens of this country. Oh wait, at least prisoners get "free" medical care!

It's enough to make a person leave America! I want my country back!

9. well...
Back in 1987, I was shopping at City Lights bookstore in SF and came across a "Ronald Reagan Countdown Calendar" which I still have. It was a 1988 calendar - the last full year of his term - and each day had a stupid saying or outrageous swindle on the public he'd pulled off on that day in history and a little box you could check off and a countdown of days left until he was out of office.

It's really a classic. I hope someone does the same for 2008.

10. Universal now owns NBC
NBC merged with Universal. I believe that GE is no longer in the picture. Universal doesn't build nuclear weapons or nuclear power plants. The only Frankenstein's monster that they ever made involved Borris Karloff.
